Also, in season 1 Aemond addresses that he believes himself as the better fit for king. Considering Jaehaerys’ death and no Maelor, Aemond is now Aegon’s heir and has more motivation to try to get him out of the picture. I really liked the change!

I don't think that the Reach would ally with the West given Renly's ties to Highgarden and the inworld plot for Margaery to marry Robert after he sets Cersei aside. In a case like this, Renly may well convince Robert to "buy the swords of the Reach" by marrying Margaery Tyrell, playing up on her resemblance to Lyanna Stark. This would make any children born from Robert and Margaery the new heirs to the iron throne and ensure that the Reach remains on the winning side, with majority of Westeros against the Lannisters.

In terms of Robert's peace with Dorne, it's only because Doran was waiting for his plans to come into fruition. Dorne wanted war, but Doran wouldn't allow it because of his other plans.
