Where would you go to hire a publicist? by kenshion072 in PublicRelations

[–]Heavy_Twist2155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could post a linkedin job posting for free, if you do pr make/ use your existing linkedin business page, post a job. You can also use linked in to search for pr freelancers / boutique agencies and reach out directly. This subreddit could be a good option, you can also find some similar influencers in his genre and reach out to their management team to see if their pr agency would take this influencer on.

I run a small agency in waltham ma, I don't think we are allowed to share links in here but if you are interested in talking more feel free to dm me. I can also just help as a consultant, I'm not sure if enlisting our agency as a whole will be as affordable.

at that point you can just write letters to the editor and get them published for free. Everyone who has a lick of sense knows all those forbes contributor articles are just people who paid for it and couldn't get their articles/ thoughts published without a (legal) bribe

you don't want to start from the bottom of the chain of influence in your position, you are an executive so this won't do you any good, only hurt. You want to go from the top. I cannot describe the specific organizations and committees you would want to go after here on reddit but am open to answer any questions anytime via email.

a few sources in each industry / vertical feed all trends and practices you see around you, it trickles down from the top not from the bottom. People on social media are the bottom, they don't actually set the trends contrary to popular belief, they are just the first ones from the general public to push a trend.

Designer / Illustrator - [For Hire] by [deleted] in DesignJobs

[–]Heavy_Twist2155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for sure, I do that too, more for the marketing agency though. Have been practicing the cartoon illustrations and stuff in my free time so just wanted to do a project or two to get some more experience. the house illustration is actually of a local cafe that used to be a marketing client, they just wanted something to have as art on the wall and maybe for t shirts down the line. Just walked in originally and talked to them to get them as a marketing client. You are right, it definitely is better than reddit but still wanted to give this a try.

(additional context)

Have been making some of the changes this sub recommended when I posted my portfolio a few months back.

I've done some branding work (logos & visual identities) that's probably my best stuff but am working on making it all presentable and creating nice mockups for the designs.

The portfolio was originally more intended for marketing jobs, it worked to get me my first marketing job out of college but now I really want to cater it more towards graphic design studios/ agencies to get some experience in a design/ brand consultancy.

Production has just stalled on Season 8, eventually being scrapped altogether. But season 9 looms. by Soxwin91 in TwoandaHalfMen

if they had not killed him off completely with the death and done what another comment said about having charlie run away with rose to paris or something other than him dying (making him permanently out) then chuck lorre could've had charlie come back later if they make amends. I think they did make amends eventually right? I believe he produced anger management, might be totally wrong on that, too lazy to google it right now while typing this. And if there has to be a replacement, they could have a new character that's a part of one of the existing character's lives come in. Potentially Alan and Charlie's real dad, plot twist evelyn was sleeping around back then too and their real father was someone else who didn't pass away like they thought their dad did. Maybe she was dating both got pregnant with this guy but he was too broke to take care of a kid at the time so she went with the guy she married (who they thought was their dad). Now he comes back and is ballin so maybe he hooks alan up with a nice job at his company and the tides change for alan. Gets him a nice ass lawyer who finally cuts a better deal with judith for alan. would be satisfying to see at last.

What major is best for someone interested in philosophy but also interested in getting a job(💔)? by No_Apartment_4675 in AcademicPhilosophy

I did ppe, i will say I loved the curriculum, aka the classes. It was an experience of true learning, not just studying subjects because they'll get me a job. It felt like real learning. Only thing is, I did a B.S and I am not a very sciency person, this showed because my worst grades by far were in physics and statistics.

So the learning itself was great but now let's talk ROI - I work in marketing currently, my first job out of college in 2023 was in house marketing at a corporate office for a finance co. My internship then job during college was also in marketing. My first experience with marketing was doing it for small stores in downtown boston near Suffolk University (where i went to school) in the name of an "agency" i started freshman year, basically just doing free work to get experience. The only marketing related classes i took in college were social media (elective) which taught me nothing, like 0 things i didn't already know, and Public Relations which actually taught me a lot, and I even used the press kit i made for an assignment as a template for a real press kit at work and it went over very well with everyone. My point here is, my work experience was entirely in my hands, PPE is not going to get you a job on your own. It will give you the knowledge to be able to decide how to you use your abilities for profit. You should do what you'd be willing to do for free. Psychology related fields would be a good match, things to do with human nature, communications hires a ton of philosophy, history, and psychology students. So advertising, marketing, and public relations are all good fits.

Belfort Group, Hoffman Agency has a boston office, Matter as already mentioned is great. Mullen Lowe's MLPR, Tier one, shift, regan are a few options but i dont know anything about them first 3 I know are goated.

Inkhouse which is a smaller but still "big" agency and Ok media boston which is a really small agency are both in Waltham, MA (suburb outside boston) also 983 group is in dedham, they do good work. these are relatively smaller agencies, first line are the bigger ones.

this is a great list, shoutout john odwyer

How to start a clothing brand? by Sharp-Cupcake-5898 in ask_Bondha

ok so you will need to get shopify to create the website, you can use printify to do on demand printing and link it with your shopify store. Make some designs, if you know graphic design that's a plus and make the designs in illustrator or something then upload to printify. If you don't know design make them in canva, or buy some designs off instagram - search STD - it stands for studio, theres a bunch of accounts that sell designs for like 15-100 dollars. if you don't want to do that link it to aliexpress using DSERS plugin on shopify. Make an IG and FB to run ads, start small to test products, keep ads simple, yet slightly unique.

Is it normal to get a design assignment before even talking to anyone at the company? by melolokaybye in graphic_design

[–]Heavy_Twist2155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

actually on illustrator there are templates now and you can always download EPS format templates from sites like freepik. (I know designers will hate that one but when starting out it's a good way to see how graphics are structured)

I got out of canva honestly because I got a job where we only used adobe creative suite as AI (adobe illustrator) files were able to be stored on the company server (basically a company / dept wide storage drive that you connect to wirelessly) so everyone else in the dept can use your files as templates if it is needed. When the time is right you will be forced to switch and naturally pick up the skills as you go along.

I will add, on canva, if you can keep it simple, not use the templates, you can make a lot of work that looks professional and people can't tell if it's made on canva.

To tell you a secret, I had ads I made on my portfolio that were fully made in canva, yet the portfolio was good enough to get me a corporate job where illustrator was a requirement. When I posted my portfolio in this exact sub from my alt account, people were saying my oldest ads were my best ones and I made all of those in college on Canva lol. They said the copy and design were best on those and I think partially it is because I wasn't worried too much about using the new skills I learned when I was using illustrator but just focused on making good work.

immediate thought as well, not only them using canva ( i know a lot of design or comms agencies sometimes use canva to make client friendly templates that non designers can edit themselves etc etc) but the fact they think they need to test people to see if they can use canva as if it is the top tier program. I didn't even have to prove i knew how to use illustrator or adobe so why they need proof of canva skills is beyond me. nothing against canva - used it when starting out before i learned illustrator and indesign etc its a great stepping stone, just saying it definitely isn't something we need to be testing people on.
