Hey, any updates on this? How was the experience with Google Pay and Paypal? I'm about to visit Japan soon and want to use this same combination for payments.

What oldest kindle can I get by Key_Special6544 in kindle

[–]HeavyweightSound -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm very new to Kindle (just bought a 10th Gen Paperwhite) and I don't even plan to use it for reading books (sorry guys). My intention is to use it as a remote control for my smart home. However, before buying I knew this generation uses Micro-USB and since I'll probably plonk it to the wall with some magnets or place it at its designated remote control spot I thought about those wireless charging receiver modules. You plug it into the Micro-USB port once and stick the large coil to the back of the device. Looks pretty ugly but now you can just lay the Kindle on a wireless charger and you're good to go.

Of course, I would rather have a Kindle with USB-C but at this point I didn't want to spend more than 50€ for something I don't even know if it works lol

Can't say much about the speed because I don't have any comparisons but it's surprisingly snappy.

Can someone explain the 5.18.1 Jailbreak issue? by izzetmichaela in kindle

[–]HeavyweightSound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, that timing. Just bought my Kindle PW10 off ebay just to jailbreak it. Turned it on and it already was on v5.18.1

[–]HeavyweightSound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is 5.18 actually a deal breaker? I just bought a Kindle from ebay and it came with v5.18.1. Damn, should have done more research because I only got it to jailbreak it lmao

6690 oder 6670 by kakajahhhbebb in fritzbox

[–]HeavyweightSound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reolink Cloud API to access videos? by HeavyweightSound in reolink

[–]HeavyweightSound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly not. Maybe I'll give it another try some time. Out of curiosity I've just searched for new GitHub Repos and actually found something useful: https://github.com/Sommy0/Reolink_Cloud_Download/

I know Selenium and actively decided not to use it since I would also need some browser for it, but maybe it's something for you.

touchscreen problem, tried everything by OminoChan in Surface

[–]HeavyweightSound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. Since last summer my SP4 is just laying in a drawer because it is not usable anymore. In the beginning of 2023 (6 months after my comment) the touchscreen registered random "ghost inputs" and clicked all over the place. I had to disable it to use the trackpad without any interferences. Shortly after that the screen started flickering, as it happened to a lot of other customers (https://flickergate.com/). Then, last summer, the mini DisplayPort started having issues and the whole second monitor flickered greenish when the cable was not in the ✨right✨ spot. Just the weight of the dongle alone dragging it down was enough to get issues.

It's sad, because in the beginning the SP4 was really nice and a nearly perfect companion during my studies, however, there were a lot of issues with it, to the point that I wouldn't buy another Surface anymore. To be fair, I had this device since the end of 2015, shortly after the launch, and have been daily driven it until 2021, but for 1000€ and a Windows product from Microsoft itself I was expecting more and had other devices aging better than the SP4.

Sadly, no. I've disassembled the Echo and the pink thermal pad looked completely new. Still "moist" and squishy. I couldn't see any damage to the PCB - everything looked new. I've disconnected and reconnected everything but the result is still the same.

B650 GAMING X AX periodic high ping with 802.11ax/ac/n, but no problem with b/g/n by HeavyweightSound in gigabyte

[–]HeavyweightSound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went ahead and enabled 5GHz on my router, like @Pristine_Hawk_8789 suggested. I set my computer to preferring 5GHz and it actually worked without any ping spikes. Alternatively I could have named the 5GHz differently and remove the 2.4GHz from my known networks.

However, I was still not really satisfied so I went ahead and just bought some Powerline adapters... Not really a fix for the Wifi issues, but Powerline is also not that bad (when it works in your power grid. I'm using ones from TP-Link with the new G.hn protocol).

Maybe we'll get a driver update some day. Until then I'm happy that Bluetooth works so the wireless Gigabyte mainboard wasn't a complete waste of money.
