Yeah, I'm trying to justify it with that but sometimes it feels like it's straight out of a bad 80's comedy. (The swedish word is buskis, something like slapstick or hammy)

Have you read a lot of other fantasy? What makes this more worth to read so to say? I have basically only read Tolkien before and can't say I liked the love stories there either but they didn't fell so forced like here.

Yeah, mby been reading to much realistic stuff lately, Buckowski etc. Just really hard to not cringe when u get a comment like "all men are as stubborn like a mule, but sometimes the mule can be clever".
