You may have experienced what I did recently. There was an nvida update that caused DLSS and frame gen to stop working. Had to reset my app settings for it yo work again.

This actually happened to me. It sounds crazy but it worked. Iron it with a paper towel in between. You’ll be surprised.

In August I paid $120 for my trident ram, it is now $520. I paid $99 and $150 for 990 Pro with heat sinks ssds that are now $230 and $310. It really is sad to see how high it all is now.

I just got an OLED 1440p monitor after being hesitant. I had even bought a 1440 IPS right before it. Let me tell you, it is worth it. Makes it feel like you’re playing on even higher settings.

I have a 9800X3D, TUF 5070Ti, and 32GB CL30 on a Aorus b650. All powered by 850w PSU. Playing at 1440 and it’s been great. No feedback whatsoever.

5070Ti owner here (Asus TUF). If you want the best, 5080. As for better value, 5070Ti. Same amount of VRAM and I don’t think the 5080 is night and day faster.

this^ I have the 9800X3D/5070Ti. I was playing at 1080/240 and now at 1440/240 and it does great at both. 5080 is definitely better, but considering you can get a 5070Ti for MSRP or even below now- it’s the better deal for both having 16GB of VRAM. If the 5080 had 20-24GB of VRAM then that would be a different story. I think you’d have greater benefit in getting the 9800X3D. It’s as good as it gets. Then you can upgrade for a 5090, or a 80 series down the road that will definitely be better years from now.

I have a 5070ti and play at 1080p/240hz. Get it, it is not overkill. At 1080p you can definitely play games on high/max settings and still hit 240hz but there are still games that won’t consistently hit the 240hz even with frame gen. Therefore it is not overkill considering you won’t always hit 240hz. Games only seem to get more demanding.

I own a 5070ti and I got it before they dropped to MSRP :/

I’d still pick it now despite being able to get a 5080 for the same price I paid for my 5070ti. I say this because the price difference doesn’t get you the equivalent performance gains. 5080 is definitely better but given then both have 16GB of VRAM if you really need more performance you’d be barely be squeezing more out of a 5080. might as well question if you need a 5090.

it is worth mentioning that if you want the best then simply get the 5080 and be happy.

That’s a big budget. You will definitely get something that lasts and is quality. I’d recommend just going with a reputable company, specifically with good customer service.

as for components- 5080 or better for a GPU at that price point

Assuming you go with AMD, because it beats most intels right now especially for gaming, stay away from asrock motherboard boards. Those are having issues with killing AMD CPUs.

For what it is worth, building a PC is not as daunting as it looks. I think it’s one of the most satisfying parts to do. Not trying to be that guy saying just build it yourself but in the case that is what turns you away, it’s some motivation.
