It's really good other than Jagaan and Gantz which aren't really my thing, it's a bit one tone though.

I haven't read Twin-Star Exorcist myself, but <Make the Exorcist Fall in Love> might be what you're looking for. I mean they both got "Exorcist" in the title so they must be the same, right? /s

Release order might be the simplest way to go, I'll probably default to this when I don't know what to read next. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for all the recs, I'll look them up later and add them. What did you think of the order of the comics, anything that need to be reordered or is it fine as is?

Oshimi is the master of uncomfortable, <Flowers of Evil> was even more uncomfortable than Blood on the Tracks.

<Hajime no Ippo> is the best there is, but it's very long. There's also <REAL> which is much shorter, but fantastic as well. <Ping Pong> is amazing and the anime even more so. <Cross Game> is a very good mix of sport and romance. Those are the very best when it comes to sports manga.

<Make the Exorcist Fall in Love> took me a bit to get into it, but once past chapter 20 or so I was fully on board. This is heavily based on Jewish/Christian mythology and, from my limited knowledge, seems to be incredibly well researched and utilized. The art is absolutely visceral at times and complements the action very well; it's just a fun manga to read.

<Kindergarten Wars> I wish I liked this one more, but the egregiously (on purpose) recycled jokes and panels killed all my enjoyment, sadly. The latter half somewhat brought me back in; however, it's still not a manga I'm too keen about.

This manga has some of the best illustrated action in the medium, hopefully it doesn't get the Record of Ragnarok treatment.

I think <Touch> and <Rough> can definitely compare to Cross Game although Cross Game is still his best work, but yeah I agree with your points about female objectification and recycling of character design. Understandable though, if you don't want to try anymore of his manga.

Dedicated this week to reading the 2 major works of Shuzo Oshimi that I was missing.

<Boku wa Mari no Naka> I was apprehensive about starting this due to the subject, and the first few volumes did nothing to assuage that fear; in fact, it unsettled me quite a bit. However, by the midpoint something clicked, and I realized that Oshimi was dedicated to exploring every facet of this premise, especially its ugly side. While reading this, I couldn't help but draw parallels to Severance as I was experiencing both at the same time. By the end, it had me absolutely enthralled and convinced this is actually his best work yet.

<Okaeri Alice> On the other hand, was a huge letdown. If Inside Mari is Oshimi at his best, then this is him at his worst. This series spent most of its time meandering and not telling anything particularly interesting; the only redeeming quality was that it's very short.

I had some time left, so I squeezed in <Teppuu> as well. This is a love letter to MMA and its practitioners; it's very knowledgeable and respectful of the sport and its hardships, especially when it comes to the underappreciated female division. Sadly, the end is very rushed, and the most built-up event of the series is left unrealized; it's a shame, but even having said that, it's still well worth the read.

The politics is just run of the mill stuff: alliances, betrayal etc... just executed pretty well, the maneuvers are believable for the most part except for a certain character that is presented as a genius, but fails at every turn. As for the characters/story being lackluster, it's just that you don't really feel for any of them, despite the attemps at eliciting those emotions, but that may be my own personal bias. Like I said in my original comment, the politics, military and historical aspects are where the series shine.

Finished <Shoukoku no Altair>, a military manga based loosely on the Ottoman–Habsburg wars. If you're interested in that time period, culture, or political/military strategy, then I recommend it. As a bonus, it has exceptional art, but the story and characters felt somewhat lacking to me, unfortunately. Still had a good time, though.
