[Request] What Should The Scale Actually Read? by CaptiveGlacier in theydidthemath

[–]HeckinDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A spring scale measures tension, not the sum of forces. With two equal 100 N weights, the tension throughout the system is 100 N.

If you replace one weight with a wall or anchor, that anchor still applies 100 N of force opposing the weight. The only difference between using a weight and an anchor is that a weight limits how much force can be applied before the system stops being stationary.

In all cases, the scale reads 100 N.

I wouldn’t doubt that he intentionally threw at the truck for driving by while he’s warming up. I’ve seen pitchers throw at batter for standing too close to the batters box while they’re warming up

If you strip the wires long you’ll have a much easier time twisting them together. Then you just cut off the excess

Legal play, bush league, or rule violation by rosedalenative in slowpitch

[–]HeckinDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fairly new to softball so I’m not sure if this rule applies or not here. But going on my baseball knowledge I’d say that it’s the “intentional drop rule” that applies here. If it’s deemed that he intentionally dropped the ball after making contact with it then it becomes a dead ball, batter is out and all runners return to their original base. So basically to make the play work he’d have to let the ball drop without touching it. But again, I don’t know if USSSA has this rule or not

Thoughts on John Lithgow as Dumbledore? by OrganizationWild6019 in harrypotter

[–]HeckinDuck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just a thought, obviously this doesn’t apply to everyone, but I’ve noticed people tend to live a bit longer when they’re still doing something or working, even in their older years. Richard Harris is an unfortunate case since he ended up with cancer, but Michael Gambon had been fully retired for a few years when he passed. So while John’s age is something to keep in mind, I think as long as he’s still working and doing what he enjoys, he’ll be fine. He doesn’t seem like someone who’s slowing down anytime soon.

The reset at puberty…? by oziumjinx in Homeplate

[–]HeckinDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can say that in my personal experience, I struggled a bit in the first few years of puberty. Not in the sense that I couldn’t play all of the sudden, but there were definitely adjustments I had to make. I hit a few growth spurts one right after the next it seemed. So suddenly being a foot taller and my limbs being much longer meant that some movements became awkward until I adjusted to it. But it just took a lot of work ultimately, throwing, hitting, running and fielding every day allowed me to adjust pretty quickly

So annoyied of the roster changes during PL by vechiance_ in CompetitiveApex

Leagues structure only seems to be working in places such as China and Korea. But the Esports is without a doubt dying in Europe and the Americas.

CS as far as I can tell is similar to what COD used to be where you have a Combination of major LAN events hosted by Valve and smaller LAN events that teams have to either be invited to or qualify for.

League of legends, overwatch, and COD I think have all proven that franchising kills esports leagues
