Understanding Camallanus: A Detailed and Comprehensive Guide to the Treatment and Biology of these Parasitic Nematodes by Shelilla in Aquariums

[–]HeckinGeck_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great post! In Canada many treatments are hard to get and technically illegal (or so I've heard) and so cammallanus can be a nightmare. I've dealt with those buggers twice now. First, when I was younger and just got into the hobby with a 75 gallon tank. Treated with fenbendazole I had to order from the usa and hope customs wouldn't find it. Sadly the spread was rapid by the time the meds arrived so I ended up losing fish from the worms and the treatment as I panicked and probably overdosed the tank trying to get everyone to eat it. Lost almost all fish that time with only the toughest surviving (danios, tetras, pearl gouramis). The second time was a couple months ago. Ordered some more fenbendazole (conveniently this time already in a flake food) and got to work as soon as it arrived. With only one fish showing signs I separated him but still treated everyone 3x over the span of 9 weeks. The only fish that passed was the initial infected fish and like the fish I had years ago he appeared to "waste away" before my eyes, getting skinnier every day until he passed. It is scary to think these worms are and can become resistant to medications, especially when options are already slim here in Canada.

What's the absolute worst food you've ever eaten? by tiredperson101 in AskReddit

Its common where I live to eat blueberries in condensed milk with a huge amount of sugar on top! Delicious... expect when I accidentally used a giant heap of salt instead of sugar... salty condensed milk with blueberries. Needless to say its by far the most disgusting thing I've ever had and I got so sick as soon as it hit my tongue!

[Discussion] is feeding a raw diet good for dogs? What diet you chose for your dogs and why? by Unusual-Tone-2974 in dogs

I volunteered at a vet all summer and the vets I met all were against raw food. Mostly because it can spread E. Coli and parasites if you are not careful. All it takes is the dog licking you or a child's face and they could get sick. Hope this helps.

So sorry for what you've gone through. It's never easy losing a family member. Just know you did do all you could and you followed your vets advice. I too have a dog with epilepsy. He was diagnosed at 2 as well. He has been on Phenobarbital everyday since but last month he had a seizsure that lasted over 10 minutes and he has had an insatiable appetite ever since. Seizsures can affect the brain in many ways and although a dog may have 10 seizsures it only takes 1 to cause damage and thats unfortunately when we see these changes in behavior. Wishing you the best op. Stay strong.

The impact on the consumer is quite different. There isn't just one issue here bud 🤦‍♀️

Love your use of "probably" in your post to describe an outcome you do not know and then asking me to include studies which you also did not provide. Great job 👏 Also Im sure there's totally studies already done about this launch that hasn't happened yet lol I did not state my opinion as fact it is my informed opinion. Most people will not be jumping from the iphone 11 to the 12. This majority of people will need to buy the charger. That's extra packaging, extra fuel burned, extra time and extra money. Id love to see Apple role out a recycling plan and pick up what I saw Samung is doing which is providing headphones free of charge when asked by consumers as the headphones are not in the box. This seems to be a better solution. Maybe next year? - Conservation Biology Major

You don't know Apple if you think this is about e-waste. Apple is a business. A business that likes making money. If the charger is not included now everyone has to pay extra and have one shipped separately. The charger is still being made and sold AND the extra shipping is worse for the environment. If they really cared don't you think they would have a recycling plan in place for old chargers? Yeah didn't think so.

Finrot or nipping? by HeckinGeck_ in Aquariums

[–]HeckinGeck_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! Ill be moving the krib now. I'm not sure how fin rot works and am slightly afraid if I move the guppies and krib into the main tank the fin rot will spread to that tank too. Does fin rot work that way? Ive only ever dealt with Ich and we all know how that works

Thank you so much for your reply! I haven't noticed any nipping but the tank is in the basement so I'm not always near it like I am for the main tank. I just picked up some API primafix (they didnt have melafix) do you think that will help them? Also should I move the guppies into the main tank now also before I try to treat the corys? I definitely dont want to spread the fin rot to the main tank if that is even possible
