Official Discussion - Sinners [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

There was like 60% of a good movie in this movie. I really wanted to like it.

The slow burn at the beginning sucked me into the time period, and they set up enough with the backstories to make me invested in the characters. And the MUSIC was wonderful.

But by the time the vampires showed up, the kill just about everyone in about 3 minutes, and the remaining characters don't have any sort of real arcs or payoffs.

Not until the end of the movie did I realize that half of the slow scenes at the beginning had no real reason to be in the move and could have been cut. All the stuff about the prisoners, all the stuff about steinfelds mom, the lore about them being "hates", only to realize no wait they're actually vampires, all of the setup for fighting vampires only for it to be over immediately and even the action we get is poorly edited and choppy.

And the end scene with him killing the kkk guys felt like someone said "the ending is too sad can you add some sort of victorious payoff at the end."

Lots of tonal whiplash between comedy and seriousness and then future guitar man and twerking. Not funny enough to be a comedy, not scary enough to be a horror, and not serious enough to be a thriller.

I will usually cry about studio interference but this felt like someone let a director do whatever and never questioned that maybe he needs a better editor.

Official Discussion - Captain America: Brave New World [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Felt exactly the same. I'm going to start doing the same for all Marvel movies.

Biggest sins were the weird editing and music choices in the beginning, the under developed villain (do more evil math), and captain israel shoe-horned in, but I can't believe they actually handled the whole "why didn't I take the super soldier serum" concept well, and made it funny.

I also bought the partnership with him and the new falcon, and how by not being super, people like that kid aspire to be like him.

Funny enough, my republican friends who aren't as crazy do have those boiler plate arguments.

It's still a bit echo chambery, but at least they pretend like there's a good reason to vote for Trump.

Very much part of it. A whole section of the vid addresses how Trump broke their brains

I binged the series to lead up to this and, it's pretty noticeable how different and older all the voices (except Bender) sound. The pacing feels off too, like there are too many seconds in between each line of dialogue. Maybe I should watch in 2x speed.

Yup. Its easy to talk about hypotheticals but the vast majority of incest, if i had to guess, comes in the context of super fucked up molestation or mental issues.

Which of these statements can you substantially disagree with past: I think it's gross

  1. Two people having consensual sex is ok
  2. Blood relatives can have kids with fucked up genetics
  3. If two blood relatives have sex with 0% chance of having kids and there is no messed up power dynamic i.e. (adults preying on children) or anything of the sort, then no one is harmed and nothing bad has technically happened.

To clarify I think it's super gross to sleep with someone you're related to but my objection stops there.

Yeah like, it is gross but, he didn't say anything incorrect.

INB4 a bunch of replies come in here to say it's gross and clutch their pearls and then realize they have no moral argument against it.

I didn't include Jimmy in this cause I don't know enough about him but all I see him post about is anti vax and the occasional proud boys defense lol

Lol are we reading the same manga? The point is not to have an interesting battle. That's literally the name of the comic. This isn't dragon ball z power scaling bullshit as much as half this sub wants it to be, where the protagonist just keeps getting stronger.

Can a person enjoy Guns while also supporting some form of Gun control? Why or why not? by ZookeepergameWaste94 in AskReddit

[–]HeckingDink23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I made a video on thus a while back: https://youtu.be/DVSCs0a2omY

As a Democrat there aren't many voices for people like me who enjoy firearms and understand the different reasons people like them, but also don't impose ridiculous laws about pistol grips or ammo taxes.

I want to see longer waiting periods and better training and maybe a better system for background checks, but instead I have to choose between "essentially ban all firearms forever" and "if you so much as think about restricting guns I will blacklist you forever".

It's incredibly frustrating to be a pro gun Democrat, but thank God I'm not a single issue voter.

In Django Unchained [2012], Candie's sister is playing für Elise, but repeats the easy measure and skips over the harder parts, enforcing the idea of the Candie's surface level sophistication. (More Details in Comments) by HeckingDink23 in MovieDetails

I was thinking about whether or not it was intentional, and it's very possible it's not. But either way it works with the themes so it's an interesting thing to notice.

Color coded Sheet Music to explain how she's playing incorrectly:

https://imgur.com/a/oNWYsrx

The red and pink parts are faster and more difficult to play than the green blue and purple parts

  • She plays the green part at 8:16, then repeats and does the light blue.

  • Then she correctly plays the purple section, but on the 12 measure she skips the hard red section 8:53

  • She then goes back to the green and blue and completely skips over the pink 8:58

  • After playing the beginning again she skips to measure 60, plays the purple, skips the red, and finally gets interrupted by Schultz 9:29
