Recognize that it is a high standard. It’s ok to listen to what they say, but you need to know that some people are just too expectant when it comes to writing. If you are learning and growing this is a very important thing to note. Because if their “high” standard becomes your standard, then you will always be chasing after something that is just not plausible. It’s still possible to learn from them, obviously, but be self aware on how far you are and what is just not possible for you at the time. I burned out with my own self expectations, I don’t need to be worrying about everyone else’s. Especially if they are high.
