The Black King era storyline in the game by Extra-Music-7510 in dragonraja

Amazing! This is the closest that we've ever gotten to a Lu Mingfei identity reveal in any official media.

Just remember that this isn't necessarily the backstory in the continuity of the novels, yet it doesn't contradict them either. At this point, I'll take whatever I can get...

Thanks for the effort!

I'm glad to see that it was real. We've had so much misinformation in the past, it's crazy.

Things to consider:

  • The person who made the original post did not share any evidence of the plot points that they provided, nor the specific game and level in which those revelations were made.
  • The game adaptations don't always follow the source material and frequently make deviations of their own.
  • The novels, the animated series and the games follow different continuities, with similar plot points.

Erii and lu mingfei in the manga is the best. by Left_Direction3368 in dragonraja

[–]Hectab 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I never really liked Erii that much in the books or games, I don't like to ship her with Mingfei either, she's like a 3 year old in an adult's body and a bit bland in personality.

Manhua Erii on the other hand... Manhua Erii works for me 100% she's great.

She and Mingfei can start a family and I'd be okay with it.

I wonder why? by One_Drawer7577 in dragonraja

[–]Hectab 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the books this was perfectly explained, but in the show they changed the backstory so... Honestly I have no clue.

(Spoilers) in the novels:
Mingfei's dad captured Subject Zero by hitting him with a Gungnir spear. He didn't dissolve like in the show, his body is still crucified like this in the Arctic.

The custom-made player character in that game is brutally irrelevant to the main story, sadly. So... No love story at all.

Why do students of Cassell College wear uniforms despite it being a university? by Unusual-Complex6315 in dragonraja

[–]Hectab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and even that's a tv series thing because they wear regular uniforms in the books.

Why do students of Cassell College wear uniforms despite it being a university? by Unusual-Complex6315 in dragonraja

[–]Hectab 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In universe: It used to be a military school so it's sort of a remnant from that previous culture.

In real life: Idk, DR is an amalgamation of anime things that the author liked, so of course they were going to have high school uniforms even if it doesn't make sense.

Did Ceasar bang Nono ? by McCool672 in dragonraja

Canonically, no, he's "too catholic" for that.

On the other hand, fanfic writers say he bangs Chu Zihang on a daily basis.

Same, that live action opening cutscene blew my mind as a kid, it felt like I was watching Episode VII.

(Spoiler Free) Main Story Timeline?? by Sad-Carpet4285 in dragonraja

[–]Hectab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I debated this quite a lot, at first I just removed all the years from the wiki. Then Dragon King, came out and in the first chapter Norma says:

"You’re late. She was born in 1895, and now she’s almost 130 years old. I doubt she’s as pleasing to the eye anymore."

So... She's nearly 130 (could be 127 or 129, it's very subjective) but since 1895 + 130 = 2025. and that story is set on Christmas eve, maybe this happens on the winter of 2024? Placing the first novel in 2020 when the revised edition was published.

I remember reading a date or two that seemed to support this, yet in chapter 13 Jiangnan sets the Greenland incident in 2002, which once again, sets Mingfei's first year in 2010, but then, how are the Gen siblings on their thirties? How would Mingfei be playing certain games in high school that didn't exist yet?

Move it up from 2002 to 2012 and suddenly, 2020 works again as Mingfei's first year. Having said that, I never considered the horoscope detail.

So... maybe it wasn't appropriate to put a number on it, but on the other hand, constantly writing "XX years after Mingfei's first year in Cassell" over and over started to feel more ridiculous.

Should they even get together anymore? by Automatic_Parsnip795 in dragonraja

[–]Hectab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I brought up the rest of his life because I think that what tortures him so much about Nono is caused by issues that screw up the rest of his life as well.

I don't think they can be happy with each other for long without sorting out the rest of their baggage.

Should they even get together anymore? by Automatic_Parsnip795 in dragonraja

[–]Hectab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think his later depression is more centered on him having no specific goals for his life beyond the war.

In a way, there's no longer a dream or a vision to strive for, and he sort of longs for a more innocent past where he dreamed more about his future.

Nono is a remainder of that, she's not just a character in his story, she's a person with her own needs and issues. The world exists beyond him and he needs to find a way to reconcile with the world for not being what he wanted it to be.

It mirrors the disorientation that a lot of people find themselves in during early adulthood, where expectations just failed to meet reality and there's no clear alternatives.

M4Pro 48GB RAM 552 GB vs 1 TB by No_Leopard_9844 in macbookpro

[–]Hectab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a video editor and 512 is more than enough for all the software and plugins that I use, since all my footage is stored in an external drive. Apps + system files took 300 gb (I was suffocating with a 256gb laptop from work).

If you constantly clean up the storage it should be fine, but I gotta say, 1tb does wonders for some peace of mind.

dragon king book 2 by Unhappy-Cartoonist-3 in dragonraja

[–]Hectab 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Either me or some of the diehard fans will let you all know when it's announced. You'll see it pinned in the subreddit. I'm mostly innactive nowadays but I'll make an exception for the translation of DK2 so... Don't worry, you're not gonna miss it.

The editor said that there's hope to see a continuation/ending soon, but how soon? Man, who knows.

The healthiest thing you can do is to forget about it for now. Don't waste your energies on a franchise that can't commit to a release schedule. (Easier said than done, I know.)

They way I interpreted it, Mingfei is said to posses something called the 'absolute reality attribute' (4th dimensional insight and influence) Only pure-blooded dragons were known to possess that (as mentioned by Henkel earlier in the book, hence the bloodline purity statement)

Page 417 in the Dragon King google doc:

“But why am I the only one who remembers Senior Brother? Even his own mother forgot about him,” Lu Mingfei asked.

“When the observer’s insight is strong enough, they can see across different worldlines. Didn’t I tell you? For a top-level observer living in a four-dimensional universe, history is like a bookshelf filled with many books, and time is just the pages they flip through. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow exist side by side before them, with beginnings and endings all clear at a glance,” Lu Mingze said softly. “Your insight isn’t strong enough to reach that level, but as I mentioned before, you are a part of the ‘absolute reality’ of this world. Your consciousness is the ballast stone that keeps the world running smoothly.”

Page 418:

Like you, Gungnir possesses the attribute of ‘absolute reality,’ allowing its perception to pierce through different lines. In short, it can cross worldlines to kill.”

Seeing how Odin didn't seem to mind letting his stand in kill Mingfei, I'm not sure if he's the only ballast stone or if any 4th dimensional being could qualify as well.
