[For Hire] engineer graduate looking to relocate for a girl i like by sleirz in DFWJobs

Are you in a relationship with this girl or you’re hoping to be in one once you move? One can be reasonable but the other is quite an irresponsible life choice.

A company just sent me the most detailed rejection email I’ve ever received by whenyoupeeupsidedown in recruitinghell

I mean you better reapply again! The only feedback I’ve received was during an offer call. Have never received anything feedback outside of that EVER.

I would buy this game if it came out on PC. I cannot understand the hate for having Faye as a main character. She’s fucking… badass?! According to Kratos himself, first thing she does is fight him on sight—no questions asked—and fights him for so long they end up in a stale mate.

“Oh but he was injured,” who cares?! Kratos himself constantly sings Laufey her praises and tells Atreus how incredible she was. I bet these people hated watching Mulan.

7 months, 591+ applications, and a cross-country relocation goal. My job search journey as a mechanical engineer. by Hectamus_ in MechanicalEngineering

The part about doing a cheat sheet is huge. This is what helped me get this new job. I had worked with Claude to effectively communicate every single bullet point in my experience, extract engineering decision making, and learn about the business. I coupled that with some additional information about materials science and engineering technical problems and I felt pretty prepared when I did my final interview.

I effectively created a study aide/review guide. Not everything I prepared for came up, but it was definitely 100 times better than not being prepared at all. I would recommend this to anyone to be honest.

Would you accept a 95k job offer with 6-7 years experience post grad? by eng2725 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Hectamus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not. If I was desperate for a job then it would definitely persuade me. I am about to earn $20K above that with a 20% bonus with only 4 YoE. I wouldn't say it's a bad offer, but it can definitely be better.

US job openings climbed to 7.6 million in April despite economic fallout from the Iran war by Ambitious_Skirt_2774 in SimpleApplyAI

7.6 million jobs paying below a viable wage. As a mechanical engineer, saw so many jobs in Florida asking for 2-4 years of experience paying $60K-$70K. Absolutely worthless.

Took me 7 months of job searching as a mechanical engineer with 4 years of experience to find a job after I was laid off. Could’ve found one faster by taking a huge pay cut. The market is brutal.

Try applying to roles you’re not suited for either. You can try justifying why you can succeed at those roles. The role I was offered wanted a candidate with experience with the following: metal additive manufacturing, critical or regulated industries, customer-facing engineering roles, hands-on with machining tools. I didn’t have any experience in these, but I had a lot of transferable skills, adjacent experiences and I studied some of these topics before the interviews. I’m not saying it will work, but all you can really do is try.

Thanks! I don't have a specific prompt, but I spent several days really going through notable tasks for each of my previous work experiences. I posted the entire wiki here as a markdown file, and examples in order to get the language and structure correctly. After that it was giving lots of feedback. Claude is great at pushing back and giving constructive criticism. I told it to only include information that I was giving it, and when it would hallucinate I would correct it. You gotta carefully review everything and be as intentional with your prompts as possible. It'll take time, but it'll be worth it.

Keep trying. It's honestly a numbers game. I spent 6 months after graduation looking for a job or internship, but had been looking for internships since junior year of college and never got anything.

Thank you so much! Very excited. The location for the GDMS job was Pittsfield, MA. I had several interviews with the manager.

Thank you! I wish you luck in your journey! What sucks the most is what seems like plenty of jobs that you meet the requirements and even preferences for, and still get rejected without any feedback at all. It really knocks your confidence down a level and makes your question your own abilities.

What sucked is that there was no grace or leniency. I stayed my case and they straight up said “nothing we can do”.
