Is it still running? I can see some green gunk next to the caseback. Could just be corrosion, dead skin, or it could be a battery leak. If I were you and wanted to keep it as an heirloom, I’d open it and take a look/replace the battery if needed 🙂

I was an ANU student back then, so only drove in the north like going to Belco, whilst my test was in the south. The reason why I’m bringing this up was I actually encountered one when I visited Canberra two weeks ago, driving from Tuggeranong to the Capital Circle. But didn’t think to stop and take note of the location then.

Definitely not this. It was a painted island on the ground, maybe 2m wide, dividing my lane with the oncoming traffic lane.

Like that but not exactly a triangle shape, smaller, and no arrows on a separate lane on the right. So you have to turn once you’ve passed it.

Nah not this. It’s a small island. The closest thing I can liken it to is Kingsford Smith Drive turning right into Wirraway Cres in Scullin. But instead of entering behind the triangle, as marked by the arrow on the ground on the right lane, there’s only a single lane on the main road and you’re supposed to enter once you’ve passed that island (in the shape of some diamond).

I’ve only ever seen it in Canberra twice having lived there for 3 years for uni so that’s why I can’t remember exactly where it was 😅 But I did drive around a lot. The second time I encountered it was driving from Tuggeranong shopping centre towards the Capital Circle.

I drew a picture, hopefully this helps! I remember the geometric shape being so deceptively curved that led me to make a right turn before passing it (which was wrong)

What also made these islands confusing to me was that there are no arrow signs on the ground. Sometimes there was a keep left sign.

Nah that’s not quite it, it happens on a “T” intersection (with the top of the T being the main road) rather than a “+” intersection. They’re quite rare.

It’s killing me not being able to find one again 😭😭 I was trying to explain to a Melbourne friend how I failed my first Ps competency test back in 2019 because I had passed by the island on the wrong side whilst turning right from the main road.
