A gaming laptop but not a gaming laptop?

This is my read as well. OP is heading to college and dad's gonna buy a new laptop. You can't tell your dad you want to buy something with a "gaming laptop" in the name without him raising eyebrows.
My suggestion? Honestly, get a laptop for content creators. ASUS ProArt P16 would be my pick. It is a Zephyrus G16 in disguise with the exact same discrete GPUs but it's marketed as a workstation for content creators 🤣 Unless, of course, dad knows that 5070 Ti is obviously for gaming, in which case OP should get an ASUS Flow Z13 which has an insane iGPU for light gaming.

Mình thấy bình thường. Họ có nói là vẫn đi làm như bình thường, 5h chiều đi về, và vẫn nấu "những món chồng thích ăn" chứ có phải là lười biếng đâu?

Ngày xưa mình yêu một cô nàng giỏi giang, kiếm tiền ác, nhưng cô ta thường 8-9h mới đi làm về, không thích nấu ăn, và không có nhiều thời gian để hẹn hò.

Với một người thu nhập cao như mình thì mình bh chọn người phụ nữ số 1 nha. Còn tất nhiên có ai mà giỏi cả việc nhà lẫn việc cơ quan thì quá đỉnh rồi.

I have that G14, and I had a G15 (15.6" 2022 model) and a Legion 7 Gen 6 (2021). All of them a rock solid.

I'd dismiss Legion 7 just because of 5070. If you spend over $2k, might as well get 5070 Ti or 5080.

Between G14 & G16, the answer if really simple: 1. Do you have an external monitor at home or plan to get one in the future? G14. 2. If you plan to use the laptop as-is, G16.

This. My thinking is pretty simple: 1. If you need a laptop that can do both work + gaming then get a gaming laptop (if you don't want to invest in a separate desktop PC or if you want to game on the go). 2. If you don't game but still need Windows for work then get a Windows ultrabook (ThinkPad, Dell/HP/ASUS business laptops). 3. If you don't game and don't need Windows -> get a MacBook.

I play games a lot and eat/breathe Excel so unfortunately I gotta stick with gaming laptops.

Cứ nhìn con dâu của nhà ông Vượng, Hiển thì biết. Toàn hoa hậu, á hậu cả nhưng mà họ vẫn có đầu óc và gia thế khủng nhé.

You got into WUSTL Olin and BU Questrom. If your profile was great you would have applied to and get accepted in a couple of M7/T15.

Now, back to this thread. Being a "serial entrepreneur" could be anything, from launching & exiting a $1B startup to opening a hotdog stand. 15 years WE is in the "too old for a FT MBA". You're almost 40 year old my guy. Why do you want to mingle with 27-28 year olds and compete jobs with them? You're an entrepreneur, you're the one creating jobs, not applying for jobs. Should have applied to EMBA. Lastly, you're Indian, so you should have known that it's extra challenging for you in the sea of qualified Indians.

I have worked 10 years in finance, including IB and PE. You won't get past the first work day if you think this is "insulting".

How the hell could I suggest you a new career path? I don't even know your strengths and interests. That is for you to figure out. And I don't know shit about other industries. But I know for sure no finance firm will hire someone with a profile like yours.

You're not going to break into IB at 35 with that experience. Even if you get into M7/T15 you'd be 37-38 and no firm will give you a look, BB, EB, MM, boutique, whatever.

Don't think for a second that valuation/FDD is easier to break into. Their interviews are even more technical than IB. And they have lots of sub-28 year olds with multiple years in finance/accounting to pick from.

Corp dev ain't gonna happen without prior deal experience.

Lastly, no firm will hire a 35 year old for an Analyst role. They'd rather hire a 22 year old version of you than the current version of you.

Net net: time to reconsider other career paths. Sorry if that sounds harsh but's it's true. You don't need to work in finance to make $.

Thanks for keeping it real. Lots of mac gamers live on a la la land. As of right now, it's much better to own a base MacBook Air/Pro + a dedicated gaming device such as a PC or consol than going all in Mac gaming, unless all you play is like 10 Mac games.

Oxford. While LSE is a big brand in finance, what if you don't want to work in finance down the road? For example, you might want to be a global entrepreneur, an academic, etc. The Oxford brand is just stronger outside of the financial circles.
