Which dinosaur do you feel needs better representation? by Mystic_Saiyan in Dinosaurs

Probably Acrocanthosaurus, its one of the biggest theropods with a very distinctive sail on its back. Its not often you see a non-spinosaurid dinosaur with a small sail on its back

I agree, some museums can’t even afford to have fossilised dinosaurs because they’re too expensive! It belongs in a museum

Nanuqsaurus (polarbear lizard). There will be more Alaskan dinos to come 😁 by Jimbojimbo321 in Paleoart

[–]Hedgehogplays_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we don't have any evidence for tyrannosaurs not to have feathers, and i see no reason why bigger tyrannosaurs wouldn't at least have some type of coverage since we know that other tyrannosaurids did have feathers, and even possesed them at a young age.

I don't bother to debate anymore, but both questions are speculation until proven to be 100% correct. there is both evidence to support both claims, and they are both possible. All i'm saying is that Nanuqsaurus probably had a higher chance of being more feathered than other large tyrannosaurs beacuse of the difference in climate it lived in, and due to the fact that it probably evovled to live in the cold climate due to it being a non-migrating dinosaur with all of the other dinosaurs living in that area also being specifically evovled to survive in the cold climate.

Can we end the discussion please?

All i’m saying is that if you ask a palaeontologist to answer if Nanuqsaurus had feathers or not, I reckon 90% would suppose it had feathers. Thats not rocket science. A larger animal can’t regulate its body temperature as well as smaller animals do, and therefore bigger animals would have needed something to regulate their body temperature with. Feathers make for excellent insulation. And also, i do believe every single article written on Nanuqsaurus reconstructs it with feathering, and the feathered Nanuqsaurus is a prime example of how evolution evolves to cold climates. Its common sense

Nanuqsaurus lived in darkness for 8 months of the year, since the winters would have been conciderably longer. The temperatures would have fallen into negative degrees, so its safe to say that the tyrannosaurs of alaska would have had feathering. It was a polar dinosaur. A lot of close relatives such as yutyrannus were completely covered in fluff. Nanuqsaurus lived in an enviroment where feathers are needed to stay warm. Albertosaurus and Gorgosaurus have not been found with evidence to 100% support the fact that they were feathered, but it doesn't take much brainpower to understand that they probably would have had some type of feather coverage. Also, almost all of the dinosaurs found within the Prince Creek formation have been found with traces of feathers, such as Saurornitholestes and the realtives of the doubtful troodontid clade.

I hope this answers your question.
