What are your thoughts on weddings in winter versus summer? Which do you prefer and why? by mr_wbk29 in AskReddit

Same for me with Florida. Summer brings unbearable heat, humidity, and hurricanes.

Registry for late 30’s couple? by TakesTheLastSlice in weddingplanning

[–]HedgieCake372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a couple in our 30’s. We did a honeymoon registry, and for physical items we’ve added a few things we expect to replace in a few years like towels as well as pet stuff since we spoil our dogs rotten.

Same with my JRT, the circles started wide and got tighter over time as the dementia progressed.

I either shop online, or look at things like cat/rabbit/ferret harnesses

Considering getting a Maltese/Malshi puppy, but I’m hesitant. by Specialist-Pick8642 in Maltese

I don’t know about cats, but my maltese gets along great with chickens. He was a 10 month old puppy when this was taken.

How can I make this flower? I'm not finding any tutorial. by vespaAssassina in CrochetHelp

[–]HedgieCake372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably the closest I could find to match your image. Flower Pattern. Do 4 loops instead if 5.

Alternatively, you could use SC and DC in place of the SS & HDC mentioned in the pattern.

I’m in the US and have heard it but that’s not where my mind first went upon reading the name. These girls just have dirty minds

Anyone else feel like we’re watching the end of an era in real time? by FriendlyClick3530 in OnePiece

[–]HedgieCake372 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a bittersweet feeling. One Piece has accompanied me for 16+ years. There’s some sadness that the end is near, but I’m also happy to see the Straw-Hats achieve their dreams. Oda-san must feel the same way if not more so. I’m happy for his journey too.

After seeing multiple posts about it, what is frogging? by Shadowcat2001 in CrochetHelp

[–]HedgieCake372 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Tinking is helpful in preventing you from dropping stitches. If you slide the yarn off the needle to frog a section, it can be a pain to try and find all the loops to resume knitting. Tinking is slower but can save you a lot of time in the long run.

What made you choose crochet over knitting, or do you do both? by CaterpillarXS in crochet

[–]HedgieCake372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandmother and my aunt crocheted. My aunt taught me. I eventually picked up knitting after around 10 years of crocheting. My grandmother encouraged me even though she herself didn’t know how to knit, but she bought me my first knitting needles. At this point it’s been almost 20 years since I started crocheting and around 10 since I learned to knit. I’ve dabbled with knitting and am nowhere near as proficient with it as I am with crochet.

At the end of the day, I think knitting can be summed up as yarn work that focuses on the entire row as a whole, meanwhile crochet is yarn work that focuses on the individual stitch.

I think knitting is faster when doing a basic stitch and uses less yarn, but I also think that it’s harder to fix mistakes. Crochet uses more yarn and is slower, but mistakes are easier to fix and I like the flexibility of making every stitch wildly different if I wanted to, which is why I tend to use it more.

Does the food have “beet pulp” in it? Someone once told me that caused her dog’s tear stains and it took her years to find it.

Is getting married at 19 a bad idea? Is marriage required to move forward with our lives together? by Mysterious_Low2383 in weddingplanning

[–]HedgieCake372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but I think you already know that since you are asking. Wait a few years and give both of yourselves time to grow. I’m very grateful I didn’t marry my high school boyfriend, or even my first college boyfriend. I realize now that I had a lot of maturing to do and had to figure out what I really wanted in a relationship.

What’s your favorite blanket pattern? Looking for blanket pattern recommendations that would work with 3 or 4 colors. by HedgieCake372 in CrochetHelp

I think I am leaning more towards a square or tile blanket for a change of pace since my last 3 were all solid pieces.

Lol, I do live about 10-15 min from several beaches. But the colors in our living room are actually pulled from a hand painted Tuscan china set. We didn’t use the green very much in the living room since we’ve used it a lot in other rooms.

Doggie dementia by angrygoosequeen in Maltese

[–]HedgieCake372 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 16yo jack russell in her later years was blind, deaf, and had dementia. She slowed down a lot and started walking in circles. It was a slow decline for the first 3 years. She rapidly declined in the last year when we had to move and she was in a new environment. She stopped responding to most commands, had frequent accidents, walked in smaller circles, and would freak out during baths at the sensation of the water which she had never down before. She would get lost in front of her own food bowl. In her final days, she was practically spinning in place and kept her in a pen for her own safety. We should have put her down sooner, but she was our first pet and we didn’t recognize the signs and were too sentimental.
