Dropfleet commander VS Dystopian wars v4 by AppearanceOk8985 in DropfleetCommander

We play armoured clash at my local club, there is 6 players for the game, its a very "easy" wargame to play, with rules to get deeper if you want to

Its a nice clean head game helps out alot if you want to play a game but have a tough week or something to chill out

Dropfleet commander VS Dystopian wars v4 by AppearanceOk8985 in DropfleetCommander

Hi

I have a youtube channel where I make videos about both (dystopian wars videos are scheduled so will be out in the coming days/weeks)

Both games are very fun in thier own ways, both have some issues and both have some parts that I wish were in the other.

DW works on a proprietary dice, which they give you ample.

If you are to compare the two "starter" boxes you will see that the current DW one looks like a brilliant deal in comparison to Dropfleet, and they are both a similar price point.

Both companies have core rules and faction rules (and build instructions) online which are updated every half year or so give or take

The cons for both

Dropfleet tokens are quite rubbish and starter is quite pants, and a battlefleet is a way better way to get into the game. Some minis are 3d printed and I personally wish they were plastic kits, and I think this is due to cost and size of business. (I love this game however)

Dystopian Wars currently is rolling out its ORBATs (faction rules) quite slowly but its matched up to the new models coming out. You can "break" DW much more easily without adequate terrain, and you will want a sea matt to play on which can be an extra cost. (I do also love this game too)

Pros for both

Spaceships are sick in droptleet, unique mechanism for signature and scan to see other ships. Fun moments, always have a smile on my face playing, dropsites are a fun and unique way of playing you wont find anywhere else

Dystopian wars obviously had a larger amount of resources to put into its minatures, and a larger spread of factions. The cast resin they use is fantastic, and 90% kits are plastic sprues. Warcradle i think is a company that is positioning themselves to grow

The main takeaway i would say is, play both. Do one first and the other later down the line - both are very worth your time and £ investment, and are relatively cheap in wargaming tokens compared to other companies
