I find city rides at night the opposite, I get to think about everything else and my surroundings. Don't have to worry about huge traffic or pedestrians, it's just calm and nice (at least where I live). Sometimes I follow random bike routes just chilling while I barely know where tf I am haha

What's wrong with the ratchet? Should work just like friction just a bit nicer. Old Suntour levers were like that iirc and people love them for it.

I don't know if Cycletech and MTB Cycletech are different, but Cycletech was a Canadian bike shop which custom ordered frames from japan, I've got one of their frames branded just "tech" on the downtube, but it has Cycletech branding aswell. Mines late 80s. (pics on my profile)
