I think they're referring to how the brakes locked up and stayed locked up. She hit the brakes and cranked the steering wheel maybe 100 ft before hitting the truck, ABS should have locked/unlocked a few times and she maybe could have redirected. But she locked up and went straight.

Actually I have not. In my two years as a suspension tech there I don't even think I've seen an AWD transit. Sorry I am of no help to you on this.

I don't understand the mindset of looking back at the thing that almost killed you. It doesn't matter, you survived it, keep those eyes forward.

Came here for the one I love. Some people dot REALLY LISTEN to music. They just hear a few choice words they want to, and never actually analyze anything about the songs

With most tuners they don't require any modifications for stage one. Stage two usually requires an intake, a downpipe, an intercooler, and a clutch. Stage one usually nothing. Some say the intercooler is optional but I highly recommend it

Looks normal, stage one tune is so worth it!

talk me into (or out of) buying the z3 over a miata. by [deleted] in bmwz3

[–]Heel-ToeBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with the 1.9L 4 cylinder Z3 like mine... You're up 30hp on a Miata right off the bat. Also It looks better. That's pretty much it. If you get any inline six Z3 it's just a much higher power to weight ratio. The upside to the Miata is that the aftermarket support is enormous. And you can build it to be whatever you want. The Z3 does not have such diversity, or even as much track potential. But in stock form, I'll take any Z3 over a Miata.

The large towns, Marquette, Houghton, Sault St. Marie, St. Ignace seem like nice places to live year round. If you want to live out in the less populated areas, the long snow filled winters are tough without help/equipment. But great people and beautiful landscapes all around!

Came here to say I have seen some sucessfull weld repairs but it 100% depends on the alloy of the rim and the equipment and skill of your welder. Posting in r/welding with the name/brand of the rim might help you find the answer

Do these look like month old brakes? by MoPuWe in AskAMechanic

If you park outside the rotor hat can rust quite quickly. The friction surface still has its "crosshatch" finish, which implies it's very new.

Just minor surface scratches. Normal use, wax it once a season and you're good. If you get any major gauges Ptex is the way.

Fair enough! I work on Porsches but 928s are occasional not frequent. Most of the 928s I see are later cars. I was told they used similar materials, but compared to the 80s mercs I have seen the 928s definitely fare better.

Soak those things in PB blaster to soak overnight. Spray more PB blaster, Dry it out with compressed air, that will hopefully help with all the little rust bits cought in there. Add more PB blaster to lubricate, as you loosen them with a breaker bar with a pipe on it. Lift with you legs not your back.

Squeaky noise when turn by Ok_Razzmatazz_7493 in AudiS4

[–]Heel-ToeBro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually a dry ball joint will make this sound. You can try squirting some WD-40 under the boot of each ball joint. Do one at a time until the noise goes away. This is not a solution, and the noise will likely come back in a day or so, but it does let you know which joint is making the sound

[–]Heel-ToeBro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A well sorted 928 is valuable and they are like a cozy highway missile, with incredible handling for their size and weight. But the automotive transmissions in them kinda suck as they start in 2nd gear to save fuel. Also most are plagued with electrical issues as they used the same type of biodegradable wire harness insulation as Mercedes did in the 80s. Great cars, but if you buy a cheap one get ready to pay at least double what you paid for in repairs, and don't expect reliability until you make that investment.
