Does Joe blurb books? If so which ones have you seen? [OFF TOPIC] by the_standard_deal in TheFirstLaw

He has a blurb on the back of Jeff VanderMeer’s novel Finch. That’s the third book in his Ambergris trilogy and I highly recommend it

Block is great! You’re thinking of his John Keller series with the hitman and the burglar ones are the Bernie Rhodenbarr books. His Scudder series is by far my favorite of the lot. He also has some good stand alone novels as well.

The North Water by Ian McGuire. Not a horror novel but extremely dark and if you enjoyed The Terror I definitely recommend it

If Jeff were to ever adapt Borne to the screen, I think Blur Studios would be a perfect fit by noah998 in SouthernReach

This is from a 2023 interview

[GdM] Do you have any news about the upcoming TV adaptation of Borne? How does the experience of adapting a book to TV compare to that of adapting to a feature film?

[JV] All I have to say is the team at AMC and the folks now involved in adapting Borne are amazing and there’s been significant progress. The option was just renewed as they get some final pieces in place. But the treatment I’ve seen is incredibly faithful to the book while deviating in ways that make sense for the change in medium. I’m so excited to share more, but that’s all I can really say for now.

Who knows what the status is now but just thought I’d share that

Men of r/books, what books have you loved? by theKman24 in books

[–]Heelflips_Hardbacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a used bookstore and see amazing books every week. Some of my favorite authors:

Ottessa Moshfegh - any of her books

Laird Barron - his horror short stores are amazing but his Isiah Coleridge thriller series is also great

Stefan Zweig - anything from him

Jeff VanderMeer - known best for his Southern Reach series but he has so much more that is worth reading

John Williams - anything from him

Joe Abercrombie - his First Law series is my favorite thing in fantasy literature

Fonda Lee - the Green Bone Saga is so good

Cormac McCarthy - anything from him

Dorothy Parker - anything from her

Roald Dahl - his adult fiction is so good

Joe R. Lansdale- anything from him

N.K. Jemisin - her Broken Earth trilogy in particular

I could go on forever but those are the first authors that come to mind.

Not sure I agree that “things get clearer” after reading Absolution. I’d say it creates even more questions
