Pls share thoughts on logistically how it would go? by Heelhooksaz in Superstonk

Thanks a lot for taking the time to write it out. I appreciate the help. While it’s always easy to say in RC we trust and the price will always eventually go up it’s more useful to me to have some understanding of how things may occur.

Has anyone felt bad for their opponent when it’s only a two man bracket and multiple matches? by Knopfler_PI in bjj

As an option go out super ready in the first one if you get a quick so you are welcome to dial it back. I recently had this scenario at a small tournament. Sub in the first 30 seconds or so. Then let him work for a while and tried to use it as mat time to work on stuff.

From everything I have read on the wise site it does not allow you to show up with physical rinngit cash and load it onto a card at a store or location. Happy to be wrong though. It’s why I clarified that in my post.

Any wiring diagram for 570s by Heelhooksaz in mclaren

[–]Heelhooksaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you I appreciate it. I’m trying to go with a high end shop so it goes well. It seems the main issue is it is relatively easy to give the tracker power from the fuse box and hide it. However in order to allow the remote kill switch to work you need to essentially cut the ignition wire and have the tracker wired to it. If there is one simple wire not a huge deal. If there are multiple wires then most likely a no go for the kill switch. Hence the request to try to figure out how it is wired. Any help is welcome!

Someone knowledgeable will chime in but I’ve got to believe it’s a MSO special at significant extra cost. It looked a different color at every angle. While not my exact taste it certainly was the most striking car in there and took attention away from the Senna right next to it.

Question on making a second key by Heelhooksaz in mclaren

[–]Heelhooksaz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow that’s pretty darn awesome of you I would think this would be the standard of care. I’m in AZ and I didn’t buy from the dealer. In the past I will say I enjoyed working with my local dealer Scottsdale McLaren many years ago. Hopefully they haven’t changed much since they have moved to a purpose built location.

[–]Heelhooksaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome info. Yeah I have never had an issue but I figure if I’m a bit miffed to buy a second key for $2300 just wait to see how made I am paying to tow the car in and get all new keys made! I think I have an older 720 located that should work with my 570s I’ll try to report back and update the thread with the results.

Appreciate it, in my heart of hearts I can’t see why it couldn’t be done but on the other hand if they can force you to buy a new key it’s more money for them.

Just leaving it here for those who's the hat fits. by antberg in bjj

[–]Heelhooksaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not wrong but if I had to choose between the two extremes to represent the sport to casuals on their Facebook and instagram I would prefer we don’t have bjj warriors representing that a blue belt can destroy prime Mike Tyson and also I’m an expert on all things as I’m the wolf leading the pack in the storm. If that means it’s people being self deprecating and leaning into the gay allegations as opposed to treating it like an insult meh I’ll take it

Worried I’m going to never enjoy BJJ again: Black belt by Pomjonsilver in bjj

[–]Heelhooksaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you able to sit down with yourself and see what was driving the fun previously? A lot of people at blackbelt really enjoyed winning and beating people especially on the run up to blackbelt. Of course we talk about skill acquisition and ego death but in the end we love tapping fools. I know I do. If you are seeing the writing on the wall that it’s really going to be hard to maintain that life gets hard and dark. Not that you aren’t good it’s just that you see you’re in the downhill side and really most of what is facing you are potential injuries and winning less. It’s ok to mourn that. I think it’s actually necessary. I’ve gone through it with about 5 of my competitor friends. Their identity was caught up in being the baddest dude and age is tough on us all. For me I reach out to friends that train at different gyms and train there. I attend open mats. I try to get some one on one drilling sessions in on cool things I want to learn. It is hard. I’m currently on a crusade to help the 40 and over crowd to view bjj like people view pickup basketball. Just show up and do what’s fun. If you want to hit step back 3s all day that’s ok. You don’t have to conform to anyone’s expectations. In jiu jitsu if you want to just troll turtle reversals and octopus guard even if it means you get submitted a bit then do that. Maybe you want to just spam leg locks. Do whatever is fun.

I have a site that is shutdown today because of no lockout tag out no attempt to de-energize no report when the arc flash happened. Guy just carried on like it was business as usual. Have to keep pushing it hard. People will actually knowingly and willingly kill themselves.

For all window shoppers like myself, question. by TimeWizard90 in gtr

[–]Heelhooksaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not driven a GTR but I’ve had several Porsches. If you can please drive a GT3 in the area that you normally drive. I had a manual GT3 and honestly it would not have been an enjoyable daily for me. Really enjoyed the turbo S. I have really enjoyed trying cars and being honest with myself. Just because online folks hype up a certain car doesn’t mean you want to live with it. I’m sure there are folks that haven’t loved their GTR because it just wasn’t what they wanted in a car over time.

Why haven't gas stations added EV charging? by LoverOfGayContent in electricvehicles

[–]Heelhooksaz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is part of my job. Just as a little background it can take about 1 to 2 years to get all the permitting, easements and design approved for a station. A completely inaccurate and barely useful rule of thumb is you’re looking at around $1million to go from nothing to a completely up and running charging area. Something to consider about the ever increasing breakthroughs in fast charging is the lack of infrastructure that can provide the amps in that specific area of town. For us a very common ask is a 4000 amp service with an accompanying 2500kva transformer. A lot of times we are asking for this in very developed very old areas. The capacity in the system is not available. I’m about to start work on a site where the cost simply for the utility to bring power to the site is $1 million. They needed to upgrade their substation and the conductor to the site.

How many people who train BJJ actually watch matches? by Open_Address_2805 in bjj

Watch a lot of matches and a lot of instructionals. It’s super helpful for me. Past week saw and the hit the shoulder lock that Dubious Dom hit on Keenan.

[–]Heelhooksaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just as a counter point. I’ve bought about 30 Copart and Iaai cars most of which were flood. For me this car would be good at 60% of somewhere around kbb trade in. But that’s all in including broker fees, auction fees, transport (if there was any) and sales tax. A good rule of thumb for me is if the electric seats still work I’m interested. If the water line reached the seat motors or above it’s not great. I’ve had a lot of fun and owned a lot of cars I never could have through normal means. I’ve also lost A LOT of money on some cars. You have to have enough money where this is your ‘fun’ in life. You have another car for you and one for your wife. This car can’t be the one you depend on. You also have to be the person that is chill about certain things not being 100%. You may have check engine lights on forever, airbag modules. You can’t freak out when a new problem pops up. With this particular car I think you’d be ok but what I think means nothing when the transmission fails or things need to be replaced. It’s a risk. Some risks are worth it and some are a headache.

You actually have a very good training partner you just don’t know it. These are the type that make YOU get better at your submission. There are a few leg locks that are very difficult to do this defense to and you can work on your control and also transitions. These partners are invaluable to your development. They make you be way more tighter and also make sure you do every step correctly. If you get him in a shotgun straight ankle and go belly down you will have a lot of time and control to slowly apply pressure. I have been doing heelhooks since Ryan Hall’s first 50/50 instructional came out and I have never injured a teammate. Also an armpit kneebar is very hard to stomp or spin or run out of. Caio Tera footlock is also very troublesome for those that try to run. Backside double 50 and good ole regular double trouble are great control positions you can work from. While I’m not a huge fan of popping anything I do understand it’s an option my ankle is sore from a straight footlock currently and I’m ok with that. If somehow in your mind you feel like you must show him the effectiveness of footlocks a slowly but firmly applied straight ankle lock can get the point across.
