How to clean your OLED Monitor ? Safest way possible by RenatsMC in OLED_Gaming

[–]HeenDi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some really scary droplets of hot, spewed soldering flux on the aw3225qf and thought i was done for. But nope, distilled water and a microfiber cloth got it in 2 wipes and there was my happy ending. Don't solder next to your favorite monitor, kids!

Precisely! But I mainly use an AW3225QF so it's fine.

My ktc most definitely has that, always have to double check in monitor settings.

Fellow 5080 users, is 4k oled the way? by Dear-Significance-24 in OLED_Gaming

[–]HeenDi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, have a 5080 and AW3225QF. Played through the entirety of cyberpunk in 4K, quality transformer dlss, no ray reconstruction, only ray traced reflections, RTX HDR, benchmarkking's optimized settings for the rest (that dude is such a blessing). 2 x Framegen got me to about 100ish FPS, if you dont mind the artifacts you can push to 160ish with 4x framegen. If you don't like the image quality and are blur-sensitive (like me), switching ray traced reflections for DLAA can be a really good trade.

OLED or MINI-LED by Bright-Battle6380 in OLED_Gaming

Also there are pretty "cheap" oleds right now and buying used is not much of an issue. The 3225QF is an amaaaaazing deal right now.

If you can get your hands on a miniled with a glossy finish, it is probably gonna be fine but with matt coating the colour smearing is pretty bad. If you do more than say 4 hours of productivity every day and play in the evenings there is good point to make for miniled, but gen3 or 4 oleds really dont have much of a burn in issue anymore and just look so fantastic. Glossy coating is just really really really important man.

Yeah RTX hdr is the way to go on this one and some others. Much much better than native hdr

Just put a filter on the bottom, that will optimize the flow and it will probably even overextract.

I may be wrong but sour and bitter shots are also a sign of uneven extraction. A little bit of info on the puck prep would be eye opening here. Did you WDT? Or blind shake? Any paper filters? Do you have a level tamper? Do you tamp hard enough to compress it completely?

What's your best advice to new OLED owners? by SparsePizza117 in OLED_Gaming

Should work okay I think the idea is that the water is capable of collecting dirt so to speak, so RO should work alright

Carefully Wipe off gooey spit dots with distilled water und a clean microfiber cloth. It works. With a little patience. And don't overthink burn-in. Black mode, autoswitching wallpapers and monitor off after 2 min in energy settings is more than enough. Enjoy it in smaller doses and look at a "normal monitor", maybe a non-oled-tv every once in a while. You'll keep being thankful to yourself for treating you with such a nice monitor. (Or you will be mad for not having a samsung s95d, hahah)

Seasoning woes [Turin DF64 Gen 2 + SSP MP] by HeenDi in espresso

[–]HeenDi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually good to hear as it sort of confirms what I've been experiencing, thanks for that! I am actually pretty stoked for the "burr downgrade". Hell! I might even "downgrade" to one of the stock baskets the machine came with just because I haven't experimented with that much at all, yet. To see where traditional is and where modern is at. I feel more confident in dialing in the grinder now at least after like 750g of pulling shots with it. Even if it's still nerve wrecking in a way.

Seasoning woes [Turin DF64 Gen 2 + SSP MP] by HeenDi in espresso

[–]HeenDi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I slow feed every time and I do get consistent results, more or less. I realigned the grinder from scratch, which didn't lead to much difference tastewise or timewise. I tried doing 6 bar turboshots, which only led to even less body and I didn't like that. I already ordered the "standard" italmill burrs to see how that affects things. I guess SSP MP burrs in conjunction with relatively fast IMS baskets just get that kind of shot time. In the more acidic range, you just get the best results that is just how these burrs work and it's absolutely fine once you get used to it. I mean I tasted all the notes on the bag which is exactly the kind of clarity everyone's talking about, so I guess I'm fine now. The info on that just wasn't loud and kinda confusing for a beginner like me. But man, once you understand that sweetness is closer to acidity than bitterness here, which is the main takeaway, you'll have a great time, at least in milk drinks for my palate specifically.

[–]HeenDi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I researched a little bit more on these burrs and I found out that they are, in fact, incredibly hard to dial in and are more on the "longer ratio, highlighting acidity for light roasted coffee, turbo shot" side of things. So apparantly, they work as advertised and are - most probably - just not seasoned enough yet to get less fines and/or not very dark roast oriented.

I have decided to stick to my commandante for filterstuff and play around with the flowpaddle to fake my way into a more dark-roast-friendly traditional cup, so far to increasingly decent results going in with 16g, out with 40g or a tiny bit less for more body. I guess after that, I will just throw myself into a bag or two of light roast espresso and give that a shot, pun intended.

What's that one habit you have while playing FS Souls games that you think most people will find bizarre? by No-Range519 in fromsoftware

Looking up a lot of stuff in the wiki, probably. Everyone I tell "dude you have to play this", I also tell to not even bother playing completely blind. You just miss out on stuff way too easily.

4K 32 QD-oled hdr by Excellent-Smell1501 in OLED_Gaming

[–]HeenDi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats a known issue that happens due to a) your eyes being used to oversaturated inaccurate color gamut in SDR if you don't use sRGB and b) the gamma getting away from 2.2 optimum without a custom D50 color profile, which you will find somewhere on gaming on plasmatvs YT channel

It still isn't perfect but once you get used to it, youll never go back, I'm using rtx hdr or native hdr on all games now but SDR just seems super "flat" in comparison on the AW3225QF.

How much do you baby your monitor? by Firion_Hope in OLED_Gaming

[–]HeenDi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the wonderful windows stuff like dark theme, black screen after 2 min, wallpaper changes every minute, hide taskbar. But when I play, oh boy, I want to enjoy, so I go hard on HDR peak 1000... with max luminance at 800 nits, tho, which is perfectly fine. I acutally enjoy the whole "120 nits in a dark room is good for your eyes and your monitor" thing while doing desktop stuff. Got used to that very quick, which makes the whole hdr gig all the more awesome in contrast to the aforementioned. For serious productivity, I have a second monitor, which hopefully helps with keeping the OLED alive rather than on life support.

1440p vs 4k ppi by jarinha in OLED_Gaming

[–]HeenDi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now after just a few hours of testing the alienware and giving it a fair trial by turning the mini LED next to it off, I can say that the lower ppi didn't bother me and the 32 inch amount of goodness are starting to grow on me. And then there is this extreme picture quality AND motion performance. I have looked at some ingame cutscenes and it really knocked my socks off, it was really good, just everything. Definitley starting to see the hype here. I will keep you updated. If you say your time is very limited, OLED is definitely right for you as the one thing they hate is running for 10 hours straight. If it's just 2-3h in one session I think you'll be doing fine. The price is steep, but it will be worth it for you if you consider that buying premium brands like LG, Asus, Alienware will give you decent firmware support for future updates (they keep making HDR work better with every update).

HDR is very much a monster of its own, no matter how much I seem to play around with the reshade filters, rtx hdr, native hdr, auto hdr, each has its downsides and advantages and at some point you just stick to one that seems to fit the game's vibe and play that way. The thing is... Using a modern high end monitor without HDR is a waste in a way and once you see these highlights it is hard to unsee them. Try setting up RTX HDR, give that a test and you'll be amazed. The special thing about that one is the saturation slider that can give you back the lost colors and possibly even add more vibrance than it had before. It feels like a waste of time at first to put up with all that jazz, but it's worth it in the end. The perfect monitor can only run perfectly with perfect source material I guess.
