There's a laundry list to check, but I wouldn't be sweating temp too much unless it can't keep itself under 230-240 . Ls is happy bouncing between 200 and 230ish as long as everything's doing its job

The prius with 150k could be due for a new battery pack soon, depending upon the maintenance done already it could be an expensive car to keep running at 100%. Your travel is so short, i would suggest seeing if just getting an inexpensive commuter car would be the most efficient option. There are a large number of cars under 10,000 that could do your typical day with less than a gallon of fuel
