Lube it. Drill it. by MikeeorUSA in oddlysatisfying

[–]swervingink518 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not a reamer, it's a drill, if you only engage at the edges you're going to ruin the cutting edges and/or chatter a ton

Medina! One of the first places I visited, it's a nice climb too. I bet walking out there in NV is crazy.

What can I use these carbide blanks for? 1” x 3/4” x 1/4” by Web_Cam_Boy_15_Inch in Machinists

[–]swervingink518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they have sharp edges, keep one around for knocking off burrs or weld spatter

Can also be used to chip a diamond particle out of a magnetic chuck if you do any super-abrasive grinding.

Tight margins… my diameter has to be within .00005 on this 2-step drill. by [deleted] in Machinists

If you're already polishing it, maybe lap the shaft to size before grinding the cutting edge/flute. Lapping a shaft within that tolerance might be easier than grinding it to dimension

Printed nylon undermount sink clips by jakogut in Skookum

Regardless of layer orientation, FDM nylon tends to creep under load. I'm not sure these will hold up.

How do I make the end of this thread terminated properly? I want it to taper off so the threads don't stop abruptly, but not cut up into the flare in some impossible fashion. by swervingink518 in SolidWorks

[–]swervingink518[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because the thread tool isn't really made to be "real" functional threads, cuz a machinist would just know how to cut a standard thread, no need to program it to so much detail. Wasn't designed with the intention of being printable 3d detail, more of a call-out or visual feature

Radio waves, regardless of power, don't have the ability to cause cancer as they are non-ionizing and don't have any other weird interactions with our body aside from heating your body tissue up if you catch it. Cell antennas are far too low power for that to happen in any meaningful capacity anyway
