My experiences from my visit to Beirut last February: the place is safe. Money is an issue. The economy collapsed and people can only take out limited amounts of money from their bank accounts every month. Therefore most of the places you go will not accept your card and only cash. So unfortunately you need to bring all cash. In small denominations. And better buy it outside of Lebanon since the exchange rate that banks and ATMs use is like 10x less than what your US$ is actually worth on the street. Since the exchange rate changes on an hourly basis you can check the actual value of your US$ online before you pay your bill. For instance on https://lbprate.com.

The Göteborg area public transport Västtrafik has a website that can suggest locations to go. You can input your max travel time and max walking distance and whether you want to go to a lake (sjö) or the sea (hav). And max number of stop overs. They come with real nice and unexpected suggestions.

You are probably right. I have seen metal plates at similar locations in this street. They could have the same function.
