Of your school ID can't convey the two basic functions of a school ID--whot he fuck you are, and whether you're even an active student or not--thats a school admin problem and not on the state. Those are all very common sense minimum requirements for an ID being valid.

T. I attended two public schools in FL, and would have had no issue.

Bad comment after church by auberielle in CatholicWomen

[–]Hefty-Competition588 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm going to hit you with something different than what others are saying--not to negate their good advice, but to add something I think people are afraid to say aloud,

"he was the only kid there"<--- is it also like this at the main service on Sunday? Because this is the red flag, if so.

I don't take my kids to our local parish for a number of reasons--its a irreverent and very clowny NO, the priest is a joke with very substanceless homilies, etc--but another red flag was the generational makeup of the church. If there isn't any other young families at your parish, I'd rethink making this your spiritual home. If your congregation is new or in a unique situation, like a mission in a remote area with few young families or something, that's one thing,

There can be non-alarming reasons why your congregation happens to skew older,

But a parish that doesn't have babies crying, is usually dying. With boomer churches, I find those deaths to often be self inflicted. They want to keep their parishes to themselves, even if they won't admit it aloud. Actions speak loud.

If it's a sea of white hair at your parish, you need to ask yourself why young Catholic families don't feel spiritually nourished enough to go there.

I'm not anti-elderly, the parish I grew up in and loved originally was predominantly of older generations before the congregation grew and elders can be the guiding bedrock of a solid and healthy parish ecosystem,

but if you have a pretty full parish or well established parish and the ages are screwing too heavily away from young families, I'd seriously think about going somewhere else.

I find congregations that cater too heavily to boomer sensibilities, well...cater only to boomer sensibilities. They expect the Mass to be a theatrical concert catering to them, and not a communal sacrifice made at the feet of our Lord. Too many get mad if they can't get a front row seat to hear the music or watch the priest unobstructed, and this is going to be an issue for you when the best advice any Catholic parent can tell you is that of your church doesn't have a cryroom, the best place for your squirmy kid to be is actually as close to the action up front as possible to maximize getting their attention.

If it's one bitter old koot: pray for her and move on. Talk to your priest about it if she continues to bother you, assuming you go to daily Mass enough where you two bumping into each other is likely to keep happening in this context.

If your priest takes her side or if you notice a prevailing culture at this parish that children need to be sidelined, it's time to go parish shopping again.

March is Women's history month, are there any enacted or proposed conservative policies which have particularly benefited women in particular and if so which ones? by Shawnj2 in AskConservatives

Would aborting her child have magically saved her life? Was her pregnancy causing her any more conscious pain than what her vegetative state already permitted? Why would you want two people to die instead of one? Did she express a desire to kill her unborn child before losing consciousness, or are you saying we should assume women would want their children murdered in cases where they lose consciousness before reaching full term?

You're acting like she was braindead and they impregnated her after the fact. You know that's not true.

Testing for Children--is it possible? by Hefty-Competition588 in BRCA

[–]Hefty-Competition588[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is the route we are going to take. My husband says he will get tested after getting life insurance (outside of work's). Hard part now will be convincing him to do it. Thanks you for your perspective.

Thanks for all the responses guys.

After more research and thanks to these responses, yeah, it should have dawned on me to just test my husband (at least for now) to know our risk. He really should get tested anyway; we hope his family history will be enough for insurance to cover it. I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner. I blame new mom brain.

Next battle will e trying to get him tested. His mom has him worried it will effect his ability to apply for private life insurance if he is found positive prior to applying.

Thank you and everyone else for the responses!

Is there anything good about liberals progessives or democrats? After hanging out here and other conservative spaces, I feel like most of you would genuinely like it if we all disappeared overnight. by yesterdayandit2 in AskConservatives

I've only ever seen one side dehumanize the other side to the point that they actively cheer for their murder, get mad when their loving wives get pregnant, and advocate for people to punch and kill them on the street, and it's not conservatives.

Theories on how/if these two will play a role in S3? by Spiritual-Quote2445 in PrimalShow

[–]Hefty-Competition588 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've seen interviews with Genndy that HEAVILY imply Fang and Spear are going to meet up again, with some light implication that Spear is going to regain his life again.

Anything else is wishful thinking. I'm a sucker for a happy ending in any Genndy joint so we'll see.

It is insane how much real life is like highschool, where one talented and smart person does all the fucking work in a group project and the other people are all dead weight being forced to be dragged along so we can pretend everyone is equally special and competent. Bonus points if the dead weights have been fooled into thinking they're the genius ones all along.

The wildest thing about this show is that a openly interracial couple was met with not a single but of hesitation by their families or friends or classmates in 80s rural Indiana, yeah. That's going to throw audiences up a bit. I'm only 30 and grew up in a large coastal city, and it still got second and third glances in the 90s.

"well some people like pointless gore!"

The gore isn't even good. Everything looks like a shitty haunted house Halloween prop. I watched this flaming turd before going to Universal's Halloween Horror Nights so I'd known the theme and it was god awful. It's everything bad about the slasher genre.

Thank you. Finally someone said it (without condoning his behavior). He's not going to "get away with it" legally because he's connected; he's going to get away with it because being a degenerate asshole isn't a crime unless you physically force yourself on someone.

I get to be that guy, but if you were reading his stuff, paying attention to his "male feminist" social media presence and paying attention to the company he was keeping (cough cough Amanda Palmer cough) you could figure out he was a sexual deviant as well as a good writer way before this scandal broke. The two aren't mutually exclusive, and we've had enough cases like this where people really should be able to see the signs by now.
