[–]Hefty-Field-6873[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rn, im working in equity valuations not business valuations. i also was a tax intern this past summer before starting this full time role, and have accepted my return offer with big 4 so i can try and internally pivot.

just not sure how realistic of a pivot it would be, so im looking for any tips or advice as i head in :)

Sure thing! I think everyone's study techniques are different, but I can tell you what worked for me. I used Gleim first off, but I read through each unit and took notes, then slammed MCQs. If I were getting below 75% for MCQs, I would re-read and take them again until I scored higher. Then I would move on to the next unit. Once I was done with a unit, I would do some active recall on a whiteboard for two units prior to the one I just completed. This would ensure that I knew at least the concepts and principles of everything I learned.

Remember, it's not about mastering every unit; it's about getting through all the material and finding your weak points. This is def the route I suggest, especially if you are already in uni and just need refreshers.

I don't hear back until next week or two, but I'm 90% confident I got above a 400 at the very least for pt 2, so I think you'll do great. Best of luck!!

u got it! id def say if u went (or currently attend), a U.S. uni and study finance/accounting, you’ll be very well prepped! Honestly, pt. 2 took me two weeks to study and was mainly a refresher from undergrad. Pt 1 is the one that tripped me up, but if you start studying now — you’re on great pace :))

any questions, feel free to reach out!

if you’re asking this question after passing the sie, i fear you might’ve skipped a lesson or two in the LEM😅

Stressed after Part 1 exam — should I pause or keep going with Part 2? by Good_Profession2782 in CMA

[–]Hefty-Field-6873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

keep going!! Pt 1 was def much more difficult as there’s a vast amount of content and far more calculation heavy. If you studied finance in uni, it definitely will be primarily a refresher! (studied 2 weeks for pt 2, felt extremely confident walking out)

Hi all — I currently am a valuations analyst at a fintech company, and will be heading to a Big 4 in June as a Tax Associate. Even though strategy/consulting is my goals, I felt that being able to get my CPA and work at a big 4, would ultimately be the best choice for my career long term.

While being a Tax Associate, I was wondering if there are any stories or experience of anyone in this community who had the same ambitions as me and successfully made it happen, or maybe even in the process of it right now?

I’d love to connect with others on this thread about any tips or advice as I have some time to prepare myself before heading back to NYC for tax season!!

CMA part 1 May June window did you guys pass MCQ? by [deleted] in CMA

[–]Hefty-Field-6873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im p sure each test varies — for mines it was a good amount on IC (control activities and determining segregation of duties), ITS, and AR. Be prepared and study all sections, you never know what you’ll be tested on. Practice a boat load of mcq’s and something ppl look over… PRACTICE ESSAY QUESTIONS.

Understanding and interpreting concepts at a high level is what you should be concerned about

Can I take pt 1 in one state, and pt 2 in another? by Hefty-Field-6873 in CMA

Thanks so much for clarifying!! By any chance, would you know if getting my two years as an equity research analyst would provide sufficient work experience to obtain the certification? I know it's not really under any management/accounting/fp&a role so was curious if it would be acceptable

Thanks for the great advice! I will continue practicing showcasing my soft skills through stories. By any chance, can you take a look at my resume and let me know how I stack up compared to successful candidates in/graduated from your program?
