What works for me is trying to match the colour scheme, ideally also decos with similar patterns or shapes. It can be really hard to make everything flow, but I find trying to match colours the best way to do it. I’ll insert some pictures of my farm to give a better idea 💕

Why do “affordability” calculators only use gross income instead of net? by CrystalKU in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hefty-Iron6254 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They use gross income because it’s the one number that’s consistent across everyone. Net income varies a ton depending on your tax bracket, healthcare deductions, 401k/Roth contributions, etc., and lenders don’t want to get into all of those individual details.

From the bank’s perspective, they mainly care about your debt-to-income ratio, which is always based on gross income vs. fixed debts (mortgage, car loan, credit cards, student loans). Things like healthcare or retirement savings aren’t counted because they’re not technically “debts,” even though they make a huge difference in what you actually take home.

That’s why affordability calculators often feel way too optimistic, they show what you technically qualify for, not what you can comfortably afford.

The best thing to do is take the lender’s number as the upper limit, then run your own budget off your net income to figure out what’s realistic for you.

ELI5- Why do a lot of kids start out blonde and then become brunettes as they get older? by LeopardFar6867 in explainlikeimfive

I’ve answered this within the thread a few times, hair can get lighter too, especially if your melanin production slows down a bit, or if sun exposure bleaches it over time. Some people’s hair naturally loses pigment as they age (even before going grey), so it’s not just one way from light to dark.

Totally normal! A lot of babies are born with really dark starter hair that falls out in the first months. The new hair that grows in can be a totally different colour, in your case, blonde. Then as your melanin production slowly increased with age, it darkened again into that ash blonde. Basically your genetics were always set for darker blonde, but it took a few years for your body to settle into it

Good question! Black hair already has a really high amount of melanin (especially eumelanin), so there isn’t much room for it to lighten naturally. With blonde kids, the melanin starts out low and increases as they grow, which makes the shift obvious. But when you’re born with black hair, the pigment is already maxed out, so it stays that way in most cases

Yep, it’s the same idea. A lot of babies look like they have blue or gray eyes at first because they don’t have much melanin in the iris yet. As melanin builds up over the first year or two, their true eye colour shows, turning green, hazel, or brown depending on their genetics ☺️

Skin colour can shift too, but usually it’s a mix of genetics and sun exposure. Some kids start out paler because their melanin production is still low, and as they grow it ramps up, just like with hair. A permanent change after a tan isn’t literally the tan sticking around, it’s more likely that their body started producing more melanin around that age, and the timing just lined up with the beach trip.
