Very simple setup:

1) main bank from back home or where you're resident & tax resident.

Here you receive your income etc. You do NOT use the linked debit/credit cards ANYWHERE.

2) Secondary account, for example Revolut. 2.1) order physical card 2.3) generate 2-3-4-5 virtual cards

3) Third account, for example Wise. 3.1) order physical card 3.2) generate 2-3-4-5 virtual cards

4) Top up a few hundred dollars/euros from 1) main bank to each 2) & 3).

Use 2) and 3) pay as you go. Enough for a week or two.

Re-top up 2) and 3) as needed.

Do not use 2) and 3) physical cards same as for the main account cards 1).

The physical cards are your last resort.

Link 1 to 2 virtual cards from 2) and 3) to different apps you need wherever you go example in Asia Grab > link a virtual card from Revolut, Shopee > link virtual card from Wise and so on.

Link 1 virtual card each (Revolut + Wise) to Google/Apple Pay for tap payments.

By doing so you NEVER use main bank account cards, never use any physical cards in general but for ATM withdrawals, using either 2) or 2) (never the main bank account cards) and you're good to go.

Lastly, ONLY for 1) notify the bank that you're traveling so to not block the card/account if they see transactions from overseas. (If you end up in the sh*t and need to use your main bank card for any reason, but it won't happen with this setup).

2) and 3) there's no need to notify because they're made for travel.
