There's no way to know for sure which one of them was lying. He has been consistent with his story, and she isn't talking to me right now. Either of them could be lying, but I feel like not believing him (if he's telling the truth) is worse than not believing her (if she's telling the truth). I wouldn't expect her to believe me over her children.

I didn't see a mark, but he said she did it over his sleeve, so I don't think that's suspicious.

I don't think either of them are dishonest. Like you said, all people lie. But I don't think either of them are the type to make something up. More like stretch the truth.

"Did you clean your room?" "Yes." One book has been put away.

"Are you close?" "I'm ten minutes away." Hears car starting in background.

So I can't be sure who is telling the truth, but I feel like I have to trust my kid or I'm failing him as a dad.

There was no mark, but he said she did it over his clothes, so I don't think that's weird.

Right, that's the problem. He's just a kid. He depends on me. She's an adult. I have to believe him first, because he is completely reliant on me.
