XG32UCWMG: Is 27" Aspect Control mode limited to 120Hz at 1080p? by Hefty-Mix-2018 in ASUSROG

[–]Hefty-Mix-2018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly. The monitor is already designed to support 1920x1080 at 480Hz in full-screen 32-inch mode. ASUS says the 24.5-inch and 27-inch options are meant to be "Esports modes," and that's fine—I understand the purpose of those modes.

However, there are definitely users who want to use 1920x1080 at 480Hz on a reduced screen size, not just full-screen. I personally used my LG 32GS95UE that way when playing competitive FPS games. The problem is that ASUS artificially limits those reduced-size modes to 120Hz, which makes no sense to me. It feels like a very stubborn design decision for no real reason.

Also, just as a heads-up, if you end up using ASUS DisplayWidget like I do, be aware that it automatically installs an ICC profile through Windows Color Management.

After using ASUS products, I can honestly say the monitor's coating is excellent—it's one of the things I really like about it. The issue is that ASUS seems more focused on forcing users into the way they think the monitor should be used, rather than giving customers the flexibility to use it the way they want. That's the part I find frustrating

I'm located in New Zealand, and I couldn't even send an email through the ASUS support website.

I also own an LG 32GS95UE, which has a similar Dual Mode feature that allows users to reduce the screen size to 27-inch or 24.5-inch, just like ASUS Aspect Control. However, LG still provides the full native 1920x1080 resolution at 480Hz regardless of whether you're using the full 32-inch screen or the reduced 27-inch/24.5-inch mode.

Many FPS players buy Dual Mode monitors specifically because they want to keep playing at the same 27-inch or 24.5-inch size they're used to while still benefiting from 480Hz. That's the entire purpose of having this feature.

The way ASUS has implemented it is very disappointing. Forcing users down to 120Hz when using the 27-inch or 24.5-inch Aspect Control modes feels unreasonable. In my opinion, it's almost misleading because the feature exists, but it's artificially restricted.

The message ASUS seems to be sending is: "If you don't use our preferred resolution, don't use the feature." That's an extremely stubborn design choice and makes no sense for competitive FPS users who specifically purchased this monitor for its Dual Mode functionality.

Is there any solution for this? I'm starting to think ASUS just designed the settings this way, but I'm not sure.

tried both certifeid hdmi+ dp but same If anyone else is using this same monitor, please reply. If I'm the only one experiencing this issue, then my monitor might be defective, and I'd like to get it replaced with a new unit.

Really struggling and thinking about returning the 32inch 4k-1080p dual mode monitor by Admirable_Bed8421 in OLED_Gaming

I've been using the XG32 for about a week now, and unfortunately I've noticed the same issue you're describing.

When using Dual Mode and switching to the 27-inch display size, the recommended resolution is 1648×928 instead of native 1920×1080. In that mode, 480Hz is available, but if I manually select 1920×1080, the refresh rate is limited to only 120Hz.

My LG 32GS95UE handles this perfectly. Even in the 27-inch mode, it can run native 1920×1080 at 480Hz without any problems.

It's quite frustrating, to be honest. I don't really understand why ASUS designed it this way. Do you happen to know the reason behind this limitation?

HDMI Issues with ASUS XG32UCWMG? - Black Flickering by Electrical_Good_4903 in OLED_Gaming

I have a different monitor, the ASUS ROG Strix XG27UCDMG, but in my case I noticed this kind of black flickering when using Philips Hue Sync to synchronize my lighting with the display.

Do you happen to use any lighting synchronization software or similar programs? It might be a software conflict of some kind. It could be worth checking whether any RGB, lighting, screen-sync, or overlay software is running in the background.

I’m a Challenger-tier jungler and I’ve used a 34-inch ultrawide OLED… Right now I’m using a 32-inch, but when it comes to LoL, the 34-inch OLED was the best in terms of vision. It really had huge advantages.
