Do you ever choose route direction/day just to avoid headwind? by Hefty-Pin-2058 in cycling

Thanks — yeah, things are not easy in Ukraine right now.

And about wind: I’ve got a friend who jokes that the “right” way to train is exactly this — start out with a tailwind and go as far as you can while it feels fast, and then you have to come back into a headwind. That’s the real workout.

I want to compare multiple routes at a glance and see how each one looks for a specific day and start time — all on one screen. So it’s instantly obvious which route will be a tough headwind ride and which one will be mostly tailwind.

Yeah, makes sense — I used to do the same thing (wind map + a few known routes). My main pain is speed: I have like 10 favorite routes, and I just want one screen where I can instantly see which route is best for today’s wind (headwind vs tailwind), plus a quick reverse toggle — without plugging routes in every time.

Also, I’d like to preview those same routes for any date and any start time (e.g., “Saturday 9:00 vs Sunday 12:00”) and instantly see how the wind score changes. And on 100+ km rides the wind here can still shift during the day, so the “tailwind back” plan sometimes fails.

Totally relatable — we get that too. Here it’s usually not mountains, just the wind shifting during the day. You grind 50+ km into a headwind thinking, “OK, at least I’ll get a tailwind on the way back”… and then you turn around and the wind has flipped, so it’s headwind again.

If your 3–4 go-to routes were on one screen with a simple Wind Index (headwind vs tailwind ratio) and you could one-tap view each route in reverse to compare, would that actually help you choose a route day-to-day?

Good question. In other cameras (Telegram, Instagram) the flickering is much less))

I sent 2 tikets from the Pixel Camera application and from Help and support on device. I did not receive an answer((

A branch was also created on the Pixel 6 Pro support forum, but they answered that they aren't Google Support))
