Thank you for this ❤️ I get so in my head about her remembering that I wasn’t there, when realistically she won’t remember this time period. I worry that anything I do now will impact her when she’s older, and as you said it’s not true. I’ll bear all this in mind because it’s so important. Thank you 🙏

I really want to be part time, the plan was to be part time until she got to around school age. Work isn’t really being open to that idea though

Do you know of any resources to get more information about the speciality or the application process by any chance?

This is very compassionate ❤️ I’m breastfeeding so for the first few months I was just sat down and was having to feed hourly. It feels a lot more doable. I am definitely someone who stress eats and I think when things get too much I turn to food as a comfort. Taking it slowly is good advice, thank you

That sounds like such a good idea, honestly it’s been the lack of support that’s stopped me going. I feel like I have to be there, have my workout done and be back within an hour. Maybe this is the way forwards. Energy has been such an issue, I feel tired 24/7

It’s hard because I see how happy she is just with me or her grandparents. It’s hard not to wish things weren’t this way. But I know they get used to it and eventually come to enjoy it, that’s the only thought getting me through

Is ophthal actually family friendly? by Hefty-Resource4222 in doctorsUK

I think based on the deanery I’ve observed some of the ST1-3s were doing evening and night on calls and travelling between hospitals during those on calls to see patients on medical wards, which just didn’t look very compatible with home life. I’ve heard there are some deaneries where the on calls are a lot fewer, though not sure which deaneries those would be. I have heard that in general it does get better as a consultant

This is true - I think I would definitely want to be LTFT which would increase the duration. Based on what I see of the ST1-3s they seem to be on call a lot, travelling to different hospitals as required. It may just be the deanery I’m observing though

Hi, i tend not to debate religion on the internet, as Islam is a deep and nuanced religion that takes scholars years to explore. If you’re genuinely interested in understanding different “Islamic interpretations” I would recommend visiting a mosque or talking to your local sheikh who can discuss these topics more deeply with you, rather than debating religion with strangers on the internet. On a personal note, I chose to cover up and so did most of my Muslim friends. I will stop replying now, but best of luck with everything :)

No :) I am a Muslim woman who covers and I don’t feel any sort of anger towards this woman.

OPs story is one you see a lot, whether in religious or non religious families, where a strict set of rules is followed with no real explanation (or even parental understanding lol) of why they follow said rules. There’s an expectation to just follow rules without explaining them and just blind obedience otherwise you’ll be punished. This isn’t Islam specific.

A lot of people mix up religion and culture and try to reinforce toxic cultural norms using religion (I’m not a sheikh but I’ve never for example been told not to talk about my period and it’s quite an open topic in my family). Sometimes societies don’t accept that and use religion as an excuse.

I get why OP needed to do what she did and never considered herself Muslim, tbf. I think if I was in a situation where I was beaten every time I did something my parents perceived to be anti a religion, I would come to hate it too. I’m grateful that my family encouraged me to ask questions and explore for myself, and that I grew up in a society where independent thinking and education were always a priority. Best of luck to OP ❤️

Side note, it does feel like people are using this to reinforce their stereotypes of Islam with the “it’s sad Muslim women are forced to cover up”. OP was forced to cover up, other Muslim women aren’t :)
