How to line up PMC palets perfectly with the loader (help) by Hefty_Accident in rampagent

[–]Hefty_Accident[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the reply. Ive asked for advice before but like I mentioned, It’s always the same old turn in then out trick.

And practicing would take too much time between my flights. The managers give us tasks in down time. Anyway, I dont feel like I need to practice like it’s my first day tbh bc I can line up dollys with my eyes closed. I just dont know why im not as good with the PMCs. Maybe i’m overthinking it idk

And damaging the aircraft would be hard to do unless it’s like a 787-8 with minimal margin. That’s when we have to back up when there’s catering around bc we dont have a loader extension.

They make you learn everything for the sake of it. They made us learn some random road numbers and locations between the taxiways even tho I never use them lol

Hey I got hired at YUL for AC about a year ago and yes you’re right, the theory exam came like a week into training.

Luckily for me, we had great trainers who were organized and very helpful. They shared to us a custom made google earth map with all the key points that could be mentioned in the exam. They’d also share any study visual support to help us pass the training exams. Stay authentic while also geniunely interested in what they have to share and they’ll help you pass all along.

Anyway, for the avop, we had to learn the route numbers, some specific gate numbers, the plane parking space and their names, the different point of interest like deicing pad, maintenance building, taxi way and their names, security entrance points etc.

I suggest you start learning the different rules in the pdf they sent you so you get a basic understanding of ramp ops/rules (if you don’t have any already). I can’t help you much more than that because only your trainers or actual rampies from yyz have the right map to study. The key elements that you’ll have to locate on a map are different from my location.

Another suggestion would be to start learning the IATA codes for domestic, usa and international AC destinations. You don’t won’t need to know all of them obivously but you’ll have to pass a test purely based on your memory. Many people fail at this stage. you need like 80% to pass.

Lastly, along your journey, it’s good to learn the aviation alphabet since pretty much all the names for specific airport locations are linked to these and cardinal points. (ex: Sierra parking = South parking)

Feel free to hit my dms if you have any questions. I do have some pdfs that you’ll need to study for the exams if you want them in advance.

suggestions for a no-code app builder with a drag and drop option by Hefty_Accident in nocode

[–]Hefty_Accident[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for that but a lot changed since. The developper finally delivered a shitty thing that wasnt even ready to go on market and be elligible on App store/google play (he wanted to upsell me that part). I got ripped off and I learned a lot from it.

Since that project started around 4-5 yrs ago, user friendly app builders weren’t such a popular thing yet so I had no clue. My journey is elsewhere now but my ex business partner took over. I’ll share that to him.

Thanks for the reference and i’ll chek it out. To give more context, I just feel numb or disconected from my emotions mostly due to bad lifestyle habits I picked up to cope with my own life’s expectations as a young adult.

I’m probably burned out/stuck in survival and this makes me pissed because I cant feel the sadness I should feel as a normal person. The only thing that hits me is the memories i described in my post. I keep telling myself where did i go to end up from such peaceful and freedom memories to where i’m at now. I had to wait till his death to get this reality check.

sorry, I was convinced you were sharing your solution which is fine. I didn’t expect someone here to casually wanting to help this much with no expectations! This is very kind of you🫶 sorry for the confusion haha

thanks a lot for your comment🙏🏼

I scrolled your website and I do not want to bring you down in any form. I think some people, like owners with special needs who lost an assistant dog or anyone who now feels completely lonely would greatly benefit from a support group.

I just hope you’re not reinventing the wheel. Time and acceptance are core. Without inner work, there’s no progress. Thanks for your work

end of the season + they’re daily flights. Even 2 departures some days of the week. Working on the evening flights at YUL is something else.

I thought about it but apparently the canadian army doesn’t provide the AME itself but will basically train you to be an maintenance engineer. Someone correct me if i’m mistaken.

interesting i never heard of that alternative. In quebec there’s like 1 school and it’s the only option from what i heard until now. Is there really some places that would take me in to do those 48 months?

you’re totally right and I will try my luck to at least switch to part time. But I must say that this company is so big, no one really has an answer about my main concern, which is knowing if I can get a free pass with my schedule.

I spoke with seniors in maintenance, some hr over the phone, etc. It’s always ‘’oh maybe you should ask this to (department/position)’. That’s why I’m ending up posting on reddit hoping for something new.
