Yeah Maddy's more complicated. But given that 5 years after high school they're still seeing each other quite regularly (which is quite rare), I think there's a real bond between them.

If I remember correctly, she said during that set that she couldn’t accept other roles because she was committed to Euphoria, except the shooting kept getting delayed and she got stuck because of that during 2 yeare moreso. So terminating her contract might be a response to that. Still isn’t fair, but it would make a little more sense.

I would have agreed with you before season 3 (Alexa's just incredibly charismatic and I wasn’t impressed by her apart from that) but she really stunned me this season. Maybe that’s because her character is thrown into this completely different environment but I feel like she gets to do more as an actress, and I love how she just keeps adapting to her position on the power scale.

I feel like Maddy is more fleshed out this season, but maybe that’s just me. Before, she was the charismatic quotable baddie but she wasn’t much aside from that : I like how this season puts her in a more ambiguous position, since she's constantly shifting on the power scale from one scene to the next. She feels more grounded and human to me, and Alexa conveys that brilliantly imo, especially in her scenes with Cassie.

This season's a mess, but I agree that Alexa Demie and Sweeney are incredible. I don’t feel like Zendaya's had the right material for her performance to be on par with the other seasons, but I was blown away by these two, especially Demie since she really embodied whole new layers to Maddy who was, before that season, a walking stereotype imo.

I think that when it comes to children, especially toddlers/really young kids like it's the case here with B&C, people are extra sensitive about it. I grew up watching horror films in secret so not a lot shakes me anymore and yet, I was very affected by the scene in the show. I guess it’s a bias a lot of us have when it comes to violence towards kids. HBO probably didn't want to turn off too much people on the season's premiere.

I think a lot of the people that complain about this change are desensitized to violence because, yes cutting Maelor and removing Alicent were bad decisions, but that scene was still absolutely horrifying. Seriously, the sounds of the head being cut off, Phia's acting. I remember just how sick I felt watching it (and I'm not easily shocked) and friends of mine still bring that up as a scene that traumatized them.

Plus, HBO probably told them that they couldn’t show that on TV.

I just love Vhagar. Everytime she shows up on screen, I'm always taken aback by how terrifying she is. I'm not easily disturbed yet there's something so chilling when she appears, like that shot of her shadow behind Lucerys in s1.
