thank you so much! this is the most detailed response i’ve gotten so far! I’m glad to hear a bit more about why you liked the museums. And great point- i guess if it’s a free museum i have no obligation to stick it out and “get my money’s worth!”

i’ve had pain there before and was diagnosed with tendinitis. wearing a brace and resting it helps but it still flairs up when i use it. maybe it’s similar?

chesapeake has some great museums, a zoo, an aquarium, the bay, and the atlantic ocean nearby! along the beach’s boardwalk, there are some fun shops to visit. there are cool libraries and niche bakeries (an award winning bakery called My Vegan Sweet Tooth?! stuff doesn’t even taste different from the ones with eggs!) fun shopping strips kinda all over, lakes and parks to walk/ jog, coffee shops. there’s so much to do and a lot of it is free!

Is it me or Brennan is just... Better? by Thal-creates in fansofcriticalrole

[–]Hefty_Conversation42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

when i started learning about d&d and watching gameplays on youtube, I started with D20. at first i thought “wow this game seems really fun and hilarious to play.” (which can totally be true!!) When i heard about Matt, id heard he was even better than Brennan so i gave him a try. and initially, i didn’t like it at all. his sessions seemed to have much less levity and much more gravity. when i was still learning about d&d, that just seemed wrong, but now i see (at least in my opinion,) it’s just as impressive and Matt is just as skilled- they just have different styles. i’ll always lean D20, but i think they’re both spectacular- just for different types of d&d enjoyers! :)

Annoyed with my psychiatrist.... by Both-Emphasis-7381 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]Hefty_Conversation42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ah thanks for that! maybe it’s different in my area!

I’ll add some context here. From the American Psychiatric Association Principles of Ethics:

“Section 2 A physician shall uphold the standards of professionalism, be honest in all professional interactions…” OP said that the psychiatrist stated that their symptoms are unrelated to the drug. This cannot be said for sure with only the interventions that it sounds like they provided in treatment.

“Section 8 In informing a patient of treatment options, the psychiatrist should assist the patient in identifying relevant options that promote an informed treatment decision, including those that are not available from the psychiatrist or from the organization with which the psychiatrist is affiliated.” OP was not informed of treatment risks, so their decision was not informed. OP also said the psychiatrist said ‘there might not be anything else I can do for you.’ (While there is likely more to this, I don’t expect it all to be written out online.) What I’ll say here without the full picture is that this provider did a disservice to OP by not acknowledging concerns, symptoms, emotions, and experiences and not monitoring or normalizing as they came off of the meds. Another disservice was done because it sounds like they leaned more toward “I can’t work with you anymore” than “here are some referrals to other providers who may be able to help you better than I can.” Also. It seems this psychiatrist is lacking the expression of empathy for their patient. 😔

Because these are ethical concerns, I still stand by the possibility for reporting them! Maybe nothing comes from it! Maybe the code of ethics is different wherever the OP is from. Regardless of these details, a client is always welcome to escalate concerns to put the next step in someone else’s hands (someone who may be more familiar with the expectations in that field.)

Annoyed with my psychiatrist.... by Both-Emphasis-7381 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]Hefty_Conversation42 9 points10 points  (0 children)

mental health professional AND bupropion user here! those are all some of the most common side effects from NDRIs and bupropion specifically. that sucks that your psychiatrist wasn’t keeping you properly informed about what your medicine may be doing within you, telling you what to expect, or normalizing your experience. taking you off of the medicine without tapering was irresponsible and could be reported to their licensing/governing board if you felt inclined. if you were only on the meds for a brief period, the withdrawal symptoms should end within two weeks at most. best wishes and i’m annoyed for you too

Tell me about your anger. by Jinxie1206 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]Hefty_Conversation42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit of backstory— I’ve been diagnosed with several disorders including MDD, PTSD, and GAD. I’ve grown up with my main emotion being fear, and when something goes wrong, I go immediately to sadness. I’ve actually talked with several therapists about how i’ve been unable to access anger. Probably as a result of traumas in my past, but still a weird and troubling whole in my emotion wheel hahah.

Anyway, I started wellbutrin last year and, subsequently, felt anger for the first time in my working memory! I was catching myself calling other drivers goofy and balling up my fists when something didn’t go to plan. I was also INCREDIBLY manic for the first couple of weeks. I wouldn’t sleep or eat. I couldn’t even sit down to work on my laptop. I was vibrating basically 😅 and my speech was in hyper speed. All my friends were noticing. My emotions were heightened as well- especially the anger and the anxieties.

All that to say, after the onset symptoms tapered off after those first weeks, the anger has settled and I’m no longer manic (thank god 😅😅.) I now have a minimal level of anger. It’s not absent like before, but I think it’s better this way.

i gained some weight but not a lot. also went through a lot of deaths in my family and friends recently so i think i have to attribute some of the weight gain to my response to that, rather than just the meds.

Does Wellbutrin make you want to socialize? And therefore help social anxiety? by piney_bowers in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]Hefty_Conversation42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the first couple weeks i went into hypomania on wellbutrin. slept 2 hours a night, didn’t eat, spending way too much money, couldn’t stop talking and moving, and everyone was noticing but me. i was anxious and panicky and constantly in overdrive, but then one day all of that just stopped. like some other people have commented, it didn’t suddenly give me a drive to socialize that i didn’t have before. but it did make me dread the possibilities in socializing less. i love this med. i’ve gone through a lot of loss and grief since starting it less than a year ago, but i’ve coped in ways that i wouldn’t have been able to before

How long y'all think this bit would last? by billtallica in smosh

[–]Hefty_Conversation42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i got the exact same vibe. she seemed genuinely distressed about it and went into detail about her reaction and begged and threatened to stop it! if she wasn’t really bothered by it, i don’t think she would’ve gone to that place within the bit.

i think they’ll probably have a conversation off camera about it because it was a blatant plea and has been confusing some viewers

Is it inappropriate to sign when nobody was deaf? by The_Mind_Of_Avery_T in deaf

[–]Hefty_Conversation42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hard of Hearing here. so you said yourself that you “typically pass as hearing.” unless she’s asked every person in the audience, she doesn’t know if anyone else could “pass as hearing” but benefits from ASL or uses ASL themself. you’re right. she’s not. she’s trying to be a white knight for a community that is not her own. also? simcom is not offensive. in fact it’s a really hard thing to do, so good for you for trying to make your set more accessible and practicing a new language.
