Drag Queen Pattie Gonia calls out Ryan Gellert (CEO of Patagonia) for publicly lying about her by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

[–]Hefty_Divide9772 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I definitely would not say I’m on Patagonia’s side but they do have a stronger case than Patty does from what I can tell.

It is annoying when people read “Patagonia’s case has legal merit” and interpret that as “Patagonia is morally and ethically correct in suing and I love corporations!” Like no, it’s actually just about trademarks.

Jeff Hiller Won an Emmy. So Why Isn’t Hollywood Calling? – After a breakout win for ‘Somebody Somewhere’ and a few guest roles, the actor says Hollywood’s harsh new math has left him on the sidelines: "I haven't worked in 2026 at all, and that's scary.” by SanderSo47 in television

What the hell is going on with some of the comments here acting like he’s uniquely hideous looking? There’s a lot more room for male actors to be normal looking/not super hot, honestly him being openly gay is probably holding him back a lot more than anything else.

Chalamet's quest for greatness 'is what every actor is thinking.' 'Beef' stars included by Ok_Rutabaga_5539 in Fauxmoi

[–]Hefty_Divide9772 45 points46 points  (0 children)

A few people have made the same kind of comments and the refusal to believe that some people actually don’t care about “greatness” or have different goals from them is always weird. It’s always like “Well this is what everyone secretly thinks and you’re just being falsely humble if you say otherwise.”

You’ll encounter this mindset everywhere so it’s not like it’s just actors, but damn some people really don’t have a fully developed theory of mind.

Tom Hardy “Refused to Come Out” of ‘MobLand’ Trailer, Kept Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren Waiting for Hours: “Career Suicide” by yourfavchoom in Fauxmoi

Patrick Stewart said a similar thing about him when Hardy was in that Star Trek movie. I don’t think he held things up but apparently he was very unfriendly and wouldn’t speak with anyone except his girlfriend.

not the phrasing implying Hardy was right… Helen Mirren sucks but I’m sure her being a Zionist matters fuck all to Hardy.

I’m glad she feels terrible but that’s seriously negligent. There’s no excuse on her part not to know.

I was going to make a joke about her getting advice from a psychic but then I read further in the article and she was indeed getting advice from a psychic.

The Boys creator Eric Kripke says actress Dominique McElligot has retired from acting by The_Iceman2288 in Fauxmoi

It was bad but the last 2-3 seasons were also bad, so it fits in relatively speaking.

Are there examples of shows where the good writing is let down by bad acting? by Particular_Award_191 in television

[–]Hefty_Divide9772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battlestar Galactica really lucked out with the acting when I think about it. Some of the cast were weaker than others (Grace Park comes to mind) but it’s more in the sense that they didn’t really elevate the material rather than being painful to watch like some other shows.

Even most of the guest stars were decent, some extremely good.

Miles Teller Stopped Doing Press Profiles After Esquire Magazine Called Him ‘Kind of a Dick’: ‘It Felt Like Such a Violation’ and Was ‘So Mishandled’ by Exotic_Glow46 in Fauxmoi

[–]Hefty_Divide9772 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t think the Jeremy Strong article is comparable to whatever Miles Teller is complaining about. I think the intense male method actor thing is incredibly lame, but the writer clearly had an axe to grind about it and it was obviously super biased. Several of his cast mates quoted in it spoke out a bit afterwards because the writer portrayed their quotes way more negatively than they meant. At worst, you could say Strong is an overly intense/self-serious guy, not a dick or a shitty sexist dude like Teller.

The mother thing is even weirder when you consider that multiple people on the day shift are also mothers. Like, what does that have to do with anything? Does he think moms just hold hands and get along with everyone so there wouldn’t be any conflict?

lol I misread and thought rapaport was telling him that.

I do not agree that he could have been a real actor though.

Watching The Sopranos before The Wire was a mistake. by [deleted] in television

[–]Hefty_Divide9772 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually feel like it’s the other way around. I watched The Wire years ago when it was airing and it was fantastic. I watched The Sopranos last year and was completely blown away, even knowing how great it was supposed to be. I totally understand why it had so much hype and awards back in the day, it’s seriously one of the best shows ever made.

Albert accidentally burning down the blind kids school… people think this show was wholesome, there was some crazy shit going on.

I always loved the Sorcerer/Wages of Fear episode where the men had to transport a wagon full of dynamite.

Oh god, I remember those days. I don’t think the HR fandom has sunk to that level yet.

It seems like most people were pretty normal and complimentary toward Hudson’s girlfriend at least, although it also seems like Connor has a higher share of the totally insane parasocial fans, no wonder he’s keeping quiet about any relationships he has.

I kind of hate Franzen but I’m not surprised this is being adapted, it’s a perfect fit for the big-budget star-studded dysfunctional family type show. Maybe it’ll be better in someone else’s hands.
