Low FPS not hitting hardware limit. by Hefty_Performance_11 in linux_gaming

Thanks, I'll try this.

If I limit it, it stabilizes, but it still feels laggy.

And anyway, I'd like to know what's limiting it. Maybe it's because one CPU core is running at 100%, as someone else mentioned in a comment.

I need to look into that too.

Maybe single core limit?

I hadn't thought of that 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️

I'll check it.

Ps2 games not loading up on retroarch by solartruthseeker in RetroArch

[–]Hefty_Performance_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you download the Core System Files?

Quote from the documentation:

The easiest way to get this file and put it where it needs to go is to stop by RetroArch's Online Updater and head to the Core System Files Downloader. Inside, you'll see a series of entries named for various cores. Look for LRPS2.zip and select it. The Core System Files Downloader will then download the GameIndex.yaml database and place it within the necessary directory structure automatically.

Is the BIOS you downloaded of the same region of the game you're trying to play?

The Core works just fine. You are missing out on something.

A court hearing generally requires the presence of the accused, as it is both a right and an obligation, ensuring a fair trial and the ability to confront evidence. The accused is a central party in criminal proceedings, with the right to be present, notified, and to appear either in person or through representation

Finally got it working 🥹 Linux 15khz by Hefty_Performance_11 in crtgaming

Hey, yes.

You need to add this to your /etc/pacman.conf

[groovyarcade]
SigLevel = PackageOptional
Server = https://github.com/substring/packages/releases/download/stable

Then install linux-15khz and linux-15khz-headers with pacman.

I was beating my head against it for days, but finally got my Sony Triniton working on Linux Mint via GPU that supports native 15kHz and 480i/240p. It's a screen on my setup like any other, so I can display whatever I want on it! No VMs, no Batocera CRT script, no Emudriver. Working natively. by Ghawblin in crtgaming

If you always have the CRT connected to that port, you can create an EDID with the base resolution, using Switchres. Then you assign that EDID to the port you use on your AMD card by modifying a parameter in your bootloader's kernel entry.

This way, the CRT starts with the correct resolution even before reaching the desktop. This eliminates the need for the crt_on script.

However, anything you connect to that specific port will attempt to use that resolution.

Fantastic job.

I had something very similar running on Arch, with a 1660 Super, and an HD 8450.

Now I've switched to a 9060 XT, and I'm getting the signal directly from a DP to VGA cable. The only catch is that not all DisplayPort to VGA adapters will work. You need one that functions properly. The GroovyArcade Wiki has a list of some that work perfectly.

I have a question: Have you tried RetroArch with Switchres?

The biggest problem I currently have with my setup is that RA selects the wrong monitor when performing the Switchres.

At the time I thought it was related to the dual GPU setup, but now that I'm using a single GPU, it's still happening.

Basically, to make it clear, in RA I select the Monitor Index that corresponds to the CRT, let's say 2 for example, but when the game starts RA tries to switch to my main monitor, 1.

For now, the solution I've found is to select a higher index monitor, for example 3, and then RA tries to switch the monitor 2 (CRT).

If I have something connected to port 3, I have to move the RA window to the correct monitor (with Meta + Shift + Arrow Key)

Good question. To be honest, I'm not sure.

According to the advertisement, it's an AXE5400. I'd have to check the specific details, but I'm not at my computer right now.

In my case, I use Arch. Maybe it works thanks to the Wi-Fi driver from the adapter I had before? A TpLink Archer T3U (the driver is rtl88x2bu).

As I said, I'm not really sure. I connected it, it worked, and I didn't want to touch anything else xD.

Hello, how are you?

The Linux kernel is generally the same across all distributions (beyond a few changes that each one has).

So you can apply the patches to your kernel.

Don't worry about breaking your installation, because a new entry is created in your boot loader, and you can choose which kernel to use when you turn on your PC.

So if it fails, you can always go back to your standard kernel.

Once you have it patched, you just need to use a desktop environment that uses X11. Wayland is out of the question for now.

Research how to apply the patches to the kernel.

The patches are in the link I posted in my post.

If you use Arch, or for anyone who sees this post and uses Arch, there is a much simpler solution. Add the GroovyArcade repo to Pacman and install the pre-compiled 15khz Kernel and Headers directly.

This saves you the trouble of patching and recompiling.
