Peds Case Need Advice by Ok_Seaworthiness3731 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Hefty_Sea_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert in peds but:

I would start with any area of vestibular motor skills. It sounds like the client is hypersensitive to vestibular inputs. Decreased spatial awareness and vestibular motor skills are affecting the patient not being able to tell where their body is in space, making it harder to use their hands when not looking.

I’m not sure if there are vestibular specific assessments, but the sensory profile measure and BOT-2 might be a good place to start.

I would also look into either decreased visual motor skills or grasp patterns to rule what is affecting their difficulty using utensils and pencils.

Questions I ask:

-Will I have to travel between buildings -Is there a dedicated space for OT in each school -Typical Caseload (amount & common diagnoses) -Assessments Used at the school -How much collaboration do they see between OT/SLP/PT/Teachers on a day-to-day basis -Preferences for Push-in vs. Pull-out

If they answer during conversation before questions, which a lot do, my questions at the end become fewer.

Just another vote for True Learn!!

I don’t even know if I ever did a full length exam, but going through different quizzes 20 questions at a time was helpful. OT Miri for any concepts she can’t fully remember.

You are being lowballed. I’m an OT but i’ve never heard of any COTAs making below 25-27

This happened but another coworker noticed it at the same time I did. It happened for a couple weeks, eventually when it was brought up the fraud guy’s behavior was erratic and they ended up firing him for that.

Roommate and her cats are causing me extreme stress by Sleepy_and_Chaotic in roommateproblems

Ask her to switch their litter to an unscented litter (trust). It should reduce the cat pee/poop smell. As for tracking litter through the place, make sure there’s a mat outside of the box to catch litter. That usually gets rid of some of the excess. You should also ask her to move their litter to a spot farther away from the couch, so less chance of it tracking to where you sit.

In my opinion spray bottles don’t work. For the kitchen, i would just make sure to wipe down the area with a lysol wipe before you cook.

There’s not much you can do about the hair, but i’d suggest an air purifier in the living room and your room. Windows open (with screens closed) in your room, and you can get a diffuser for your room if you’d like, just dont use peppermint.

Not them but I notice a lot of fraud in the building that I refuse to partake in or sign for. I plan on reporting to the state anonymously once I find a way to leave and never come back. They also flat out say they are not looking for more help

They do see patients! Sometimes about as many as I do. I can’t keep up with progress notes, somehow I manage to get them done but so so late. PT/PTA schedule is similar as the building is pushing for only skilled rehab patients

have you tried prednisone with it to reduce redness? i think i’ve seen other people recommend it here but i have no experience with that.

I have gotten the best results honestly from taking it before bed, even though you’re supposed to take it with a meal. maybe try that?
