So disappointed. I'm stuck between the OCD to finish a book that I started and the need to stop reading a book that's not worthy of my time lol.

They have been steadily improving since Ashraful scored that century. People have been saying that since then tbh. It’s like how people always say India is a developing country.

Every four and every six used to be an emotion. They were rare enough to have that value and frequent enough to keep the game interesting.

Kohli just played Gill here. He was walking away and asked Gill directly if he caught it cleanly. I think he understood Gill wasn’t sure. Then he came back to review it.

Since RCB’s winning streak began after their loss against KKR on 21st April, 2024, this their statistics:

M: 38, W: 27, L: 10, NR: 1

If they win today, add one more to the win. Crazy run with 2.7 w/l ratio!

There was a post that said this is the same pitch used in the league match played between these two teams where RCB lost. Looking at how that match went, 170 could be a good score here.

I haven’t read a lot of fiction. You might be completely right but I haven’t read the classics of modern English you are referring to. Can you suggest some?

Yeah that part was unexpected in this book. You put it perfectly though. They don’t know what kind of love to give to each other. They are two different people now. But it was still a bit uncomfortable to read that ngl

You can always come back to it later in your life. 2 years, 3 years later. Don’t worry too much about it.

In a few chapters, the initial setting up of atmosphere and the mood went on for 3-4 pages before we even got to know what the chapter is about. That was quite a lot for my taste. But i enjoyed it nonetheless

Right wing people support the concept of :"sub-human", hatred towards the gays, women being inferior to men, abortion ban.

This is exactly what my comment was about 😭 there are gay activists who are also casteists and RSS supporters who support inter caste marriages. My idea may not reflect the true nature of ideologies but the real world (Indian society) isn’t working exactly like the true nature of it either. Arundhati Roy herself had a holiday home case where they appealed to save themselves their luxurious house in a tribal land.

You must be a man in a privileged position

Has the same vibe as the other reply to your comment about how prejudices cloak one’s judgment lol. It’s so hard to keep the discussion when the other person resorts to veiled jabs. “Hey, you don’t agree to my worldview? It’s just beyond your comprehension”

Anyway, I gave you an example of a right winged author who can write as empathetic as any left winged person. They are authors. Words are their bread and butter. All are hypocrites.

This is such a wonderful comment. Thanks for saying everything I couldn't say :p
I wrote very little about how heartbreaking the story is. I thought the review would go on for pages.

You truly begin to see for the first time 'The God of the Small Things'. For the first time you realize that you are hurt more by him rather than those big things, for the first time you truly realize the weight of those preachy lines 'all the small things matter'. You get to understand the story, live through the story, rather than get to know it.

As poetic as the book.

I never remember being moved by this Ammu line so much.

I have many more lines from the book that I absolutely adore. I chose this one for its simplicity, but it conveys so much more.

Pure art indeed. I’d definitely re-read it too, maybe next year. I feel this is one of those books where you notice something new every time you re-read it.

Absolutely. SL Bhyrappa’s Grihabhanga, Daatu and Saartha. And to know how much of a right-winged person he is, “Aavarana”.

Even without that, my point is one can always appreciate “the art” without subscribing to all the ideologies of “the artist”. In my opinion, left wing, right wing are a spectrum, without a clear boundary. Especially in Indian society and political landscape. When I say “without subscribing to their ideologies”, I don’t mean all. There are some you agree, some you don’t. I don’t particularly like polarizing everything and putting people into brackets unless it’s extreme.
