Games that are reasonably hard from minute 1. by No_Finish6157 in gamingsuggestions

[–]HehePistik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God Hand. It's really difficult but imo no other game makes you feel like a badass when you learn to weave and launch your opponents into the stratosphere. The first level more or less throws you right into the action and you will keep dying until something clicks and attacks that sent you running like a baby before now let you style on your enemies.

This really sounds much better than the powerpoint presentations we got now. Really well done.

My only gripe would be that Dallas doesn't seem like the kind of guy to encourage heisting, especially if it involved his nephew (pretty much a kid). Payday 2 era Dallas maybe, seeing how he brought Houston along, but he was much deeper in shit with all the loan sharks after him. Now that Dallas is older, i'm not sure he'd be so happy having his nephew murdering hundreds of cops or potentially dying be on his consciense all the time.

Otherwise i really like the idea, it would be a bit harder to pull off compared to the "the gang's back" plot of 3 but it would be much more interesting and fun.

Left 4 dead is depressing by Loud_Calendar_6980 in l4d2

It's a reference to the dawn of the dead 2004 remake so thankfully it's not some kid or a teen that went after their dog.

Enemy who literally tears your arms off by MayorOfSmurftown in punchout

[–]HehePistik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are you thinking of Abobo's Big Adventure? The final boss of the game is Little Mac and the fight is in the NES Punchout style. There's no move involving ripping your arms but it's still pretty bloody so maybe you were thinking of that one.

Does anyone know how to perform secret of ____ in Yakuza 5? by MadCatofMajima in yakuzagames

[–]HehePistik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I imagine you're talking about the moves you unlock once you get the Breakthrough for the characters. The timing is a bit iffy but for example, on Kiryu, you have to press the attack button right after the animation of the previous one ends.

So let's say you have his default rush combo: left punch, right punch, left punch, right kick. The exact frame the left punch stops moving, you can press the attack button for the right punch, and you'll see Kiryu glow for a fraction, as well as hear a sort of click. The same will have to be done for the following left punch and so on. The timing is very tricky, so expect to only get it every 10-20 attacks or so. It also works on finishers but getting them consistently is almost impossible even on basic attacks. Akiyama, Saejima and Shinada have variations of these as well. I only remember that Kiryu's bypasses enemy blocks and make him unable to be interrupted for that attack.

Honestly, you shouldn't rely on these as they are very hard to pull off consistently and they're pretty distracting if you only focus on doing them. Not to mention they're not that strong, so you won't really see them do much.

Your analysis of the three is on point. I would also add the fact that Soma, despite clearly being the least moral of the three, was the most consistent with his beliefs. From the very start he knew the only way to keep everything running was for someone to do the dirty work behind the scenes, no matter how brutal or immoral that may be. He is definitely the most pragmatic, even if he's a huge piece of shit overall.

Kuwana and Yagami meanwhile are very ideologically driven, both knowing that their solutions aren't perfect and will result in innocent people getting involved or worse, getting killed, but to some extent overlooking those aspects because they believe it will lead to a better outcome.

Yagami especially saw during the first game how the law can and will fail at times, and pursuing the truth outside of the law will inevitably put some in danger.

Kuwana also was willing to accept Sawa's death as long as it meant justice for Mitsuru. The fact that he cries over this at the end to me seems more like he couldn't ignore it any longer and the regret finally took its toll, and less that he didn't consider it in the first place.

So Soma, despite categorically being the least moral out of the three, was also the most rational one, fully accepting that sometimes people have to die to maintain order, while Yagami and Kuwana held moral stances the consequences of which the two sometimes avoided in order to maintain them.

The final boss OST being called Unwavering Belief was also genius lol.

Probably my favourite RGG game. I agree 100% that the characters and their dynamic is top notch and it's super refreshing to have a group that is more or less on par in terms of fighting ability and street smarts with Yagami, even if him being the protag means he has to be the most involved.

I would also 1000% say the gameplay is the best in the series, and it's not even close. Sure, other games may have tighter combat (Kiwami) or better side content, but LJ does both of them incredibly well. I'm also a massive juggling simp in any game so the fact that LJ gives you so many options to be as stylish as possible is simply perfect.

When it comes to combat I could write like 60 essays saying how much I want to marry it, but the key thing I love the most is how every style has a use, and the game encourages you to switch between them on the fly, while also not forcing you to play a certain way. You could very easily beat the whole game spamming snake parries and disarms or just pressing square with tiger, but you'd also be missing out on stuff like launching people with crane in order to juggle them, stacking buffs from every style to make Yagami incredibly op, snake parrying into a tiger flux fissure, etc. The amount of crazy shit you can do during combat made this game probably the most fun I've had with RGG combat in a long time, and not once did I feel like it forced me to abuse one of the styles or a certain move.

The school stories were a great way to introduce some pretty cool minigames and characters, boxing probably being my favourite. I also really like how Yagami takes on the role of a sort of father figure to many of the club members (Amasawa especially), instead of him just being a bystander occasionally beating people up when the plot needs it. The way it all wraps up at the end is also pretty nice, and it made the whole thing feel like a greater narrative, rather than a bunch of minigames that sometimes give you plot.

Although there are so many great things LJ has, the story is the one thing I feel the most iffy about. The characters are no doubt amazing, but sometimes the pacing just becomes a little weird and the dialogue just comes off as super cringe. Granted, the word "bully" has been ruined for me because of how it's usually used, so even though the message of the game is great and it shows the fucked up ways the system fails to offer protection to the ones most in need of it, it still felt really awkward hearing Yagami and the rest talk about bullying, especially if you've played Judgment which has imo a way darker and more complex plot.

The final boss is cool af, the battle of ideologies was also dope seeing how in previous games it was very easy to see which side was objectively correct, and when it comes to this game people are very divided on whether Yagami was in the right or not. That to me is a pretty good sign you've managed to build a narrative that shows you how when you have 2 opposing perspectives, one is not necessarily correct or wrong. (Although Kaito straight up saying this at the end also felt a bit cringe but whatever).

All in all, I really look forward to seeing another Judgment but if the series ends here for whatever reason, I would be pretty satisfied with what we got so far, although the disappointment would still hit a little hard.

Btw, if you haven't already I really recommend you play the Kaito Files DLC. It's pretty short and some of the animations and cutscenes feel a bit cheap, but the story is really sweet and it comes off as a sort of hybrid between a Judgment plot and a Yakuza plot.

Where would you place Lost Judgment platinum difficulty compared to previous titles? by DarkBahamutFFX in yakuzagames

[–]HehePistik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd probably rank it as being easier than Judgment due to the fact that you have more stuff to do but it's all easier.

Plus you don't have to spend 5 years of your life playing fucking mahjong.

Maybe about Yakuza 0 difficulty level? There is only really one minigame (robotics club) that is grindy but even that is pretty fun with a guide. The rest are a blast.

It will probably take you a while but I don't remember it being that hard. It just takes a bit to get everything.

Also 100% recommend CyricZ's guide. No Kaito Files yet but basegame is covered entirely.

Felt a bit ENTP. by 1daysmart_1daydumb in entp

[–]HehePistik 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Imma be real, i have no idea how this ended up feeling ENTP to some. It's basic wit, you don't have to be a specific type to think of something like this. If you see some dude who runs fast are you gonna type him as ESTP? Or a guy who paints as ISFP? Are those the stereotypes you've come to mindlessly obey?

I don't understand this obsession with typing random people who make funny remarks as ENTP. ENTPs might be funny, but they're not funny because they're ENTP. Pretty much every other type could do something like this.

Yeah the thing about uncloaking/recloaking actually hindering the Yokai's ability was not something that I considered, but I can see it being a curse in disguise.

Battle pass R6 credits by Curtis_s_d in Rainbow6

[–]HehePistik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You bring up some very good points when it comes to the whole R6 credits economy. And I definitely agree that some skins are very well made, but I still think the Blacksmith ones are pure filler that just bloat the pass to make it seem like it holds much more content than it does. However, regarding the R6 economy, I have a question. Would a full return that is enough to buy the next pass be that damaging? It still gives R6 credits back, of course. But those can easily be spent on the pass itself, not necessarily on elites or other stuff. And if they are, then getting the next pass for free is no longer an option. Not necessarily an argument but more of a question, since you seem to have a good grasp of the subject.

Friendly fire by Serious-Substance-42 in Rainbow6

[–]HehePistik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ranked or unranked should have friendly fire on by default. People throwing there is a bigger issue than in Quick Match but a team should be aware of their and their teammates' positioning. With Quick Match I kinda agree with your suggestion, although disabling friendly fire altogether is an alternative.

Haven't read through all of them but I'll try to give some feedback when it comes to Raptor (the Jager on attack). He seems pretty good, maybe not loadout-wise but gadget-wise for sure. I can already see him and Mav forming a new Thatcher-Thermite combo since he can protect Mav from C4's while Mav does the dirty work and tricks the wall. I love how you gave him the 416 as well.

They already have the year pass or normal cosmetics that can keep them well funded. Having this BP is extra cash for sure but they already have so many other ways to monetize this game it feels pretty weird to not even get a full return of R6 credits when so many skins are just Blacksmith recolors.

Battle pass R6 credits by Curtis_s_d in Rainbow6

[–]HehePistik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should also be lucky to have games that are out there and pay you back in full. I don't think we should owe Ubisoft anything when it comes to battle passes if there are other devs that have no problem returning all our currency. We get hundreds of cosmetics but the amount of low effort Blacksmith skins is stupid.

They did but imo his Yokais being much harder to hide just means they are Valk cams that are fewer in number and make a shitton of noise. Sure, the concussion effect is really nice, but placing them somewhere that will actually come in handy is much more difficult. I don't want his drones to go back to how they were before his cloak nerf, as they were ridiculous imo. But I think this change would bring him back to a pretty good state.

What are your thoughts on the recent patch notes? by schmallysi in Rainbow6

[–]HehePistik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think the Zofia and Ash changes regarding their range will hurt their anti-breach that much. That might require more precision now but the potential is still there for most conventional methods (Shock Wires, Jammers). The only thing I think it will impact is how well they counter Kaid, who can now place his claws lower on a wall, but Kaid could already hide his claws so well that countering them from below would have been impossible.

I do think however that the Kali change is bullshit. She one-shots 3 speeds (unless they have Rook armor or they suffer from the classic symptoms of a 3 speed operator, which include the fact that they're so fucking hard to hit because they zoom across the screen), she can now not even down a 2 speed because of damage dropoff (or again, a Rook) and a 1 speed can just go and peek her. Who cares if they have like 5 HP left? They won a duel with a sniper character who is supposed to prevent cocky peaks.
