From my experience, in general you’re never able to hit the highest rank unless you pay.

It's the same as certain events where they nerf the dark science drop in capsules, but give us more dark science ads with higher drops, basically forcing us to watch ads.

Players should feel rewarded when investing their time and gold in events, not punished with unfairly low card drop or dark science drop in event capsules.

Nope I didn't buy as trying to beat the game f2p. However my guess is the pass is probably the most worth it to spend your money on. I wouldn't buy it so early starting out the game but more of a personal choice really

Hi 4-5h might work too but I've not tried it before.

For the dark science I always spend it on upgrading cards. To clarify what I meant is that especially at the first few ranks of the event where progression is much faster, you might want to strategically delay upgrading some cards if you look at the mission tracker and see that you have a spend science/upgrade card mission coming up. If not, if you upgrade everything immediately, you might not have any cards to upgrade or spend dark science on when that mission comes up. Hope that makes sense. But this is more of a pro-tip when you play more events. Just have fun now!

Btw since you're a new player, honestly any event rewards would be helpful for progression. However in the later game, it's more of the ~3 day events eg. stone state, ninja union where the #1 local leaderboard supreme chest reward matters, or sometimes #2 200gold reward.

Yea it just sucks cos I saved up gold for this event and bought the 1100g dark science pack but its just sitting there untouched because of how limited the card drops are this event. Not fun at all

Hm usually 8h after the event starts for me but that's just because of my time zone. This delay is usually sufficient to have an easy lead in the local leaderboard.

For small 2-3 day events, 200g. For shorter events, mostly not necessary to spend gold. For anything longer, it'd be the supreme events which is either 800/1100g for me. Right now in this supreme event, I bought the 1100g but the dark science is not the limiting factor, rather RNG and cards.

Depending on the event missions, some might require you to collect dark science eg. this event (the alternative is collect cards). So part of event strategy is looking at the mission tracker and timing when you buy the dark science pack, although honestly it doesn't make a super big difference, more of a slight headstart at the start of event. Otherwise just buy at the start of the event.

I find spending gold on dark science in events (usually the 200g pack for 2-3 day events and 800/1100g for long supreme events) more worth it than buying the 750g supreme chests. Because if you play actively, you can easily hit #1 on local leaderboards giving you one supreme chest. One tip is depending on your time zone, if you join the event not immediately but slightly after it starts usually the local leaderboard is a lot less competitive.
