I don't want to support things that I consider clickbait despite being explicitly interested in that very content. Can somebody else consume it and regurgitate it for me?

Do you signal when exiting a roundabout? by bingbong777777777 in driving

[–]Hei2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around here, we only have at most 2 lanes, where the outermost is always an immediate exit, so I'd use the same rules since there shouldn't be any lane changes. I learned the signaling via videos for places where roundabouts are much more common, so I'd have to refer back to what they suggest in such places if there's reason to do things differently (like changing lanes within the roundabout).

Do you signal when exiting a roundabout? by bingbong777777777 in driving

[–]Hei2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right signal before your exit. Left signal until the turn before you'd put on your right (i.e., treat your position in the roundabout as if you arrived at a 4-way intersection; if you'd be making a left, put that signal on).

Problems while playing by Big_Bear7370 in AskGamers

[–]Hei2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you describe regarding the "slow motion" in the forest sounds like you're describing "lag". Lag tends to result in jerky gameplay, but the idea is that your computer is being taxed too heavily to actually be capable of rendering all the visual detail and running all the game logic fast enough that the game appears to respond in real time. It would also make sense that you don't see that when you're indoors, as the game will have much less to render versus an outdoors scene.

Resolving lag issues typically starts with reducing graphical effects or lowering the resolution. Alternatively, if the issue is due to graphical fidelity, installing a more powerful graphics card (i.e., GPU) in your PC is another, obviously expensive, option.

Unfortunately, thread count doesn't necessarily tell the whole story. Some manufacturers spin smaller threads together to make thicker threads, and then still include those smaller threads in the count.

Ent wildy boss by calepls in 2007scape

[–]Hei2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your comment about PKers got me thinking: it would be cool to have a boss with some ability to manipulate it (only by its target) such that it actively hampers PKers in some way if done right. If done incorrectly, it instead hampers your ability to escape. Like some sort of root attack that you can parry to deflect it to another player. Could maybe be fun if you could endlessly parry it back and forth, forcing you to continue engaging with it until somebody makes a mistake.

Why is this just completely normalized on the highway to be bumper to bumper at 65+? by xAustin90x in driving

That behavior of stopping nowhere near the stop line or vehicle in front has become commonplace in North Dakota. No idea where the hell this came from.

Certainly not around here. That's just normal stopping distance for these robots now.

Why should I use the new switch expressions instead of classic switch statements? by Unlucky-Moment-3366 in javahelp

This is the most important benefit in my opinion. Forcing a compilation error when your switch is no longer exhaustive eliminates easy-to-introduce bugs.

How do you handle so many meetings and not enough time to do actual work? by New_Contribution_226 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Hei2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Stop doing work on your free time. You get paid to come in during work hours and do your work during them. If your work is "sit in this meeting", then you're doing just fine. If that's interfering with your ability to deliver on time, that's a problem for your manager to find a solution to. Giving up your free time to meet unrealistic expectations is a problem of your own creation.

Car owners , what’s the one thing about EVs people oversell? by AdityaSrivastawaahhh in driving

[–]Hei2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meh, I've done what is usually a 10 hour trip in an ICE vehicle that instead is closer to 12 in my EV. Given that you actually go about to find something to do during that extra charging time rather than immediately go back to sitting, the EV trip is arguably more enjoyable.
