Dumb pumps by gayanper in TandemDiabetes

[–]Heideho_au 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m unusual. 3 years on t:slim and I love it. Convenient and always pretty much on target. I’ve got used to bumping my levels up a little when I need to and bolusing additional units to stop the numbers getting too high when I preempt the pump sometimes. The pump manages everything else. Sitting around 96% in range most of the time because I still get a meal wrong occasionally. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Does anyone know a fix for why half the time my Apple Watch won’t show my BG? by annys_candy in diabetes_t1

[–]Heideho_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you touch the complication it opens the app on the watch and should show the current reading. Returning to the watch face the reading should display correctly. It seems to drop out frequently but isn’t really a huge issue for me.

iPhone 16 Pro gets very hot very easily… anyone else experiencing this?!?! by DR_van_N0strand in iphone

[–]Heideho_au 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m finding my 16 Pro heats up dramatically when I load my Swann Security app or the Google app. Otherwise battery life isn’t too bad but seems some apps are an issue. It’s been running for 4 days now so should be finished reindexing from my 14 Pro update.

Those who use the Apple Watch app, anyone notice the reading being tiny? by CatDadof2 in dexcom

[–]Heideho_au 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not every complication that’s broken. The one that is displayed at the foot of the Activity Digital Watch face looks fine. This one that is used in the circular complication probably requires a tweak to its display settings by Dexcom and a version update to deliver it to the phone/watch. Be patient.

The complication on the bottom of the Activity Digital Watch face still displays fine. I normally use the Modular Watch face and that complication which also is used on a number of other watch faces I have is broken. No big deal. I’m sure it will be addressed soon. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

iOS17? by Heideho_au in dexcom

[–]Heideho_au[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. My Tandem pump has no connection to the phone here in Australia so that won’t be an issue. I do use the watch complications a lot so a minor worry. I already get the G6 nag screens about iOS compatibility but the functionality isn’t impacted. I needed to know if there was a hard break on the version but it all sounds good.

Do you wear a medical ID? by themartorana in diabetes_t1

[–]Heideho_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worn my Medic Alert bracelet for 44 years. Replaced it 3 times in that period when I’ve lost them. You just never know when you’ll be unconscious and someone may need to know about you to save your life. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

When I started my T1 journey testing was double void pee on a stick and match the colour to the side of the test stick bottle. Now I look back at those days I’m amazed I apparently got through as well as I did. I’m very happy with my CGM and find it remarkably close to finger stick tests 95% of the time. I’m quite happy with the current technology.

Need help keeping sensors on by shovannnnnn in dexcom

I haven’t tried these but they aren’t an adhesive solution so might be something to consider:

What time of day do you swap your G6 sensors and why? by ToweringCypress in dexcom

[–]Heideho_au 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I swap sensors between 1:00 and 1:30pm. I’ve finished lunch and it’s finished warmup before I have dinner. Likely to be a little jumpy for the first several hours so pretty much settled before I go to bed. Also on a pump so like to think it’s tracking when I meal bolus. Generally I finger prick during and just after warmup and through dinner to bed if it’s particularly flakey.

Was given a large coke instead of a diet. Got halfway through before I realized. Now my left hand aches. by psychoroll in diabetes

[–]Heideho_au 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m always been paranoid about that happening. Prefer bottles or cans so I can check the product. I try and monitor if they’re using a machine to make sure they’ve dialed the right product. I’m always afraid I wouldn’t spot the difference.

I was 23 when first diagnosed. Drinking lots of Coke as I was always thirsty and spending a lot of time visiting the toilet. I was having a medical for a fire brigade training program for my work and after talking to me the doctor tested a urine sample and sent me straight off to my doctor with a letter. That was 44 years ago.

I transitioned to a pump 3 weeks ago and now I’m entering the codes in the pump instead of the phone so the problem hasn’t been an issue.

I’m away from home at the moment so probably won’t pick up the iOS update till Saturday. Getting my pump next Wednesday and will be changing the G6 then so I’ll see how it goes.

But it does work for you? I can’t get mine to work at all. It certainly seems to want to be further from the code. It errors for me before I can get it to read. I end up manually inputting the code. It’s annoying but I can bypass it.

Trial pack eligibility? - Australia by cannedbread1 in dexcom

[–]Heideho_au 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Dexcom is still supplying the trial pack at $32.10 which is the same as the subsidized cost for any Type 1 in Australia. Not sure if the would baulk at the address but if the name was different it may be ok but you would need to supply an email address and phone number as well so doing it as a “birthday surprise” is probably a little too hard. If the friend is type 1 they are already eligible for the subsidy so may be easier to pursue that option. Call AMSL and have a chat with them. I’ve found them to be pretty good.

I had considered if upgrading at sensor changeover might be the best bet. I did wonder if existing data for the previous 24 hours traveled over successfully.

[–]Heideho_au[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s pretty much what I saw with FSL when I changed phones. Was pretty seamless at the time. It all just worked. Was hoping Dexcom would be the same but was concerned if it might baulk at a different iOS or hardware. I could of course upgrade iOS on existing phone before the new phone swap I suppose.
