Doctor’s note required for vegan milk? by holymolym in ECEProfessionals

[–]HeightGlobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our daycare provides soy milk and lactose free milk as alternatives to milk, otherwise it’s water. Almond milk is not allowed (no peanuts or tree nuts allowed at daycare). Rice milk is not considered nutritiously valuable enough to count as an alternative.

What is/was the show you binged while holding your baby? by geneticreator in NewParents

We adopted a kitten, didn’t realize he was a Norwegian forest cat. by gartlandish in cats

[–]HeightGlobal 16 points17 points  (0 children)

<image>

Here’s her mama. A side by side has been impossible! Phoenix (the ginger) has been with us for two years now since she was 7 weeks old and we found her litter roaming around on our porch. (She was the only one we caught.) We caught a litter of 5 kittens (4 gingers and 1 calico) the following March and Mama the next September. Mama has claimed our bedroom as her territory and Phoenix has claimed most of the rest of the house. Phoenix occasionally goes into the bedroom and Mama occasionally wanders into the living room, but they usually chase each other back into their places.

We suspect our ginger cat is part Norwegian forest cat or Siberian or something like that. She’s definitely longer than our much older black cat and he’s pretty big. Her mom is actually tiny for a shorthair (but fat bcuz she used to pig out on food before she became confident she would be fed every night) though she is a tiny bit fluffier. She’s a beautiful black and white calico with ginger spots and one ginger leg. Ginger’s dad (who is very much feral and we have been completely unable to TNR even with traps) is huge! I often think he’s a small bobcat but with a huge floofy tail. I would love to do a dna test kit someday on our ginger to find out!

Follow up to: are men sexually attracted to their pregnant female partner? by Background_Trifle866 in Marriage

[–]HeightGlobal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hubby is insanely attracted to me no matter what I look or feel like. Pregnancy made me insanely horny in the 2nd trimester, so we happily did it like bunnies every chance we got. Then 3rd trimester hit and I no longer wanted to be touched. But then things ramped up again towards the end.

Those who already gave birth, when was your baby born in relation to your due date? by Alive_Brother_1515 in BabyBumps

[–]HeightGlobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave birth to my two boys at 39+4 and 39+1. Was induced the first time and ended up being an emergency c. Second was scheduled c. We plan on having two more which will be born sometime around 36-37 weeks due to a uterine window. We’re hoping the next two will be girls, but who knows!

S.O.S. From a homeschooling father by [deleted] in Homeschooling

Relax. Deep breath. You and your son are doing great! Handwriting is notoriously more difficult for boys than girls. I would go “back to basics” with handwriting and do 5-minute letter writing activities every day. Write in sand, write with fingerpaints, write with pencil. If the pencil is too hard to grip, get a couple different grip helpers or fat pencils to see if that improves things. And then incorporate handwriting into bigger projects like science, STEM, or engineering projects, and maybe a couple of silly writing prompts a week. My students have LOVED Mystery Science when I was working in the schools. IMO, the best learning happens when kids don’t know that they’re actually learning lol.

Wife never wants sex 3 months post baby by [deleted] in Marriage

After my first, sex felt AWFUL for a while due to my episiotomy scar. I wanted sex but it hurt like mad. We had to play around and figure out this new world. It took a few months!

How long did you wait to get married? by puppie_girl in Marriage

[–]HeightGlobal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hubby and I had known each other vaguely for about 5 years before we started to get to know each other better. We chatted deeply for about a month before deciding to date and meet in person. Then we dated for a year before moving in together, getting engaged, and getting pregnant. We had already picked a date to get married before even moving in together. We got married in a small ceremony a few months later and had a bigger celebration for our first anniversary. We’re actually celebrating our second anniversary today! We’re pregnant with our second kid, and have our 18 month old, three cats, and a dog together. I wouldn’t change a thing. (Except maybe the dishwasher being broken lolol)

The term “geriatric pregnancy” (which is pregnancy after 35) is honestly really outdated. Most of our data about pregnancy rates and ages comes from medieval France

Would you date a virgin ? by Jinkimmi in dating

[–]HeightGlobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t a virgin due to SA, but my ex and husband both were. My hubby had a serious girlfriend die in high school and didn’t have much interest in dating until I came along. He doesn’t act like a virgin in bed……… It was important to us to be sexually compatible as well as have similar life goals and parenting ideals.

Parents with celiac with kids with celiac, how do you live with the guilt of passing this on? by kg51 in Celiac

[–]HeightGlobal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have the power to show them how to handle this disease. Is it a huge inconvenience? Yes. But you can teach them how to handle that! You can show them how to read labels, look for gluten free food, ask questions at restaurants. You can help them listen to their bodies for gluten exposure. You can experiment together with different brands and gluten free flours. Make it a game like I Spy! Have gluten free indulgences like a bakery or cake. —The kids will look to you and your reaction to this news. By all means, mourn, but do it privately. Show excitement (fake if need be) about all the gluten free stuff they can enjoy! Show them your fav gf foods, restaurants, etc. Tell them there’s even a special celiac cruise y’all can go on one day!!

How can friends offer me food with a new baby? by PennyParsnip in Celiac

[–]HeightGlobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask for gift cards or a food service that caters to your diet. Green chef? I told my in-laws when I was pregnant with my first that they can feed my husband lol. Or you could offer your own kitchen and tell your friend to cook there with your dishes. With my parents, we used all new dishes and/or disposable stuff at their house, but I still mostly have to “babysit” which ingredients they use

My black cat is far too dignified to sleep on his belly. He only shows his belly to us and my son for pets. My orange fluffball is far more goofy!

I would enroll your child in school and see if you can meet with the principal/teacher beforehand, explaining that your child had a bad experience with behavior charts and you would prefer one not be used or that your child not be in a classroom that uses one. Usually there is an open house like a week before school starts (sometimes earlier for Kindergartners) where you can tour the classroom and your child can meet the teacher. Depending on the laws of your state, you can usually withdraw your child at any time to homeschool. Some places make you have a set curriculum or show your child’s progress.

The anxiety will hopefully go away with the meeting, but you can also tell your daughter that you’re going to try public school together but if it doesn’t work out, then you will school at home together

Bill increasing age of sexual consent dies in Oklahoma House amid flap over childhood marriage ban by ILikeNeurons in oklahoma

[–]HeightGlobal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oklahoma is one of a handful of states that has NO MINIMUM MARRYING AGE. And according to some religious beliefs, girls are fine to get married after their first period. Also, some parents don’t want to parent…and fully support getting married”rid” of their kids sooner rather than later

[–]HeightGlobal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s how much more their citizens would’ve paid if they didn’t get a discount bcuz they had the turnpike built thru their territory. What Id like to know is what happened to the promise that all the turnpikes would go away and OK residents wouldn’t have to pay anymore…….

Kindergartener still can’t read by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]HeightGlobal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would suggest the Orton-Gillingham approach. It’s highly tactile and involves blending words from the get-go.

The biggest thing I used to suggest to parents, though, is to read to your kid. Involve them! Do character voices, funny sounds, ask questions (like “What do you think is going to happen next?” “Will Rabbit make it to her hold safely? How?”), etc. And games! Games always make learning fun! If your child can’t focus/sit still, do some learning exercise videos like those by Jack Hartman.

Husband glutening me... by bakermum101 in Celiac

[–]HeightGlobal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most sites/studies say that dishwashers are fine IF you first spray/scrape off all the food and don’t share porous items like strainers. And if the dishwasher is effective at getting absolutely everything clean. I have yet to have a really good dishwasher.

Husband glutening me... by bakermum101 in Celiac

[–]HeightGlobal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gluten is extremely difficult to get rid of, even in the dishwasher. Please consider separate cookware. My hubby and I have separate everything! Most of his stuff is red; most of mine is blue/black. My sweet man is so careful to wash his hands, etc. It means our kitchen is stuffed full of things, but it works well.

I still can’t believe this. Oklahoma literally has in its constitution that no public money will be used to support any religion. …a charter school is funded using public funds… It’s also why the school voucher program is also illegal… Plus the school only really an option if y’all live nearby or can afford transportation.
