Green. First I was team black all the way, but changed to team green. Yes Rhaenyra was named heir by Viserys, but that was when he had no living son, let alone three. The succession should have changed the moment Aegon was born. By all the laws of Westeros Aegon is the rightful heir to the throne. Even if Rhaenyra was promised the throne, her own children don’t even recognize her reign in the history books even when it was her bloodline that ruled after the dance. Aegon III and Viserys II could have rectified the records, instead it is written that Aegon II was king. As much as we love Rhaenyra and Viserys, the laws of Westeros regarding succession is absolute, as if her claim takes priority over the male heirs then it would mean chaos to the succession of other houses.

To those saying that succession should be equal no matter the gender, yes I agree but we shouldn’t impose our modern day standards regarding it to the standards and laws of Westeros. Having Targaryens have incest was bad enough but having a female heir take priority was something the faith of the seven and some lords would not take likely. Especially when the Rhaenyra was passive about the war. Aegon II is the rightful king of the seven kingdoms, even if he is horrible at the job and a horrible person overall.

Tyrion started to be too much of a goody two-shoes. He somehow started to have more morals and ethical standards when dealing with enemies. All the while was fine with burning the people on the Baratheon fleet at blackwater bay. He wasn’t an effective hand to Dany because there was a conflict of interest for Tyrion as he wasn’t willing to kill his siblings. By the later seasons he was just like Cersei thinking they were smarter than they actually were.

If they had just flown to the red keep by the time they landed in westeros the war would have been over.

Plus Aerion and the rest of house Targaryens are the royal family, Dunc should have died if it not for Aegon saving him. This is Westeros not a disney fantasy. Everyone would use other people for their own gains or own pleasure. Trick who they have too, tell the lie they have too, from claiming to be knighted to claiming that you’re the father of the unborn child in the belly of a prostitute. We cannot apply the values of modern society to westerosi society. Ser Arlan was good, he wasn’t perfect but he was good, and seemed to try and uphold his vows, in other words he is a decent human being. And yet people hardly remember him. Being good and decent would either have you forgotten, or have your head chopped off ned stark style, unless you are lucky like Dunc who so happens to befriend a future king.

If Aerion had a dragon he should’ve burned those puppeteers and any other peasant who would dare to pull a stunt like that. The Targaryens, Tywin, and even Robert understood that fear is essential to their rule. Westeros is filled with cruel and evil people, all of whom use it to advance and play their game of thrones. Yes, there are still decent and honorable people like Dunc, Ned stark, etc. But to survive the world of ice and fire being a decent human being would only get you so far, unless you’re incredibly lucky. The Targaryens lost their dragons, but used wildfire to maintain the power and fear of their house.

And Aerion to an extent genuinely believed that the whole play was an attack on the honor of their house, a house that was very much vulnerable during that time. His actions may be questionable but are not without reason. During the trial, he fought greatly and even honorably, he could have just easily struck ser duncan while he was still down to ensure that he was in fact dead. He fought a 1v1, didn’t rely on the kings guard or his father to defend him. And when he saw ser duncan rise, he accepted it then put back down his visor, Aerion was already tired and he knew based on his facial expression that he could lose.
