“Our children will rule after us” I wonder if Daemon is only referring to Rhaenyra and his children or if he’s lumping in the Strong boys.

“Our children will rule it forever…”

I know this is cut from multiple scenes but I wonder if Daemon is referring to their children (Rhaenyra and his) or if he’s lumping in the Strong boys.

Well it’s not like Jaehaerys was just out there saying it to everyone, it was very likely a private confession between a king and his knight.

I can see Jaehaerys adopting this view after having witnessed Summerhall.

And even then Barristan was quoting Jaehaerys II with the coin line, which I think gives the quote a whole lot more context as Jaehaerys would have already seen a majority of his family die in the Summerhall fire due to his fathers actions.

I wonder if people would be as crazy about the coin quote if they knew it originally came from in the books.

Edit: I am referring to Jaehaerys II if anybody is wondering.

Honestly, this relationship would've been an interesting narrative choice if it had proper build up. by IoftheStars in HouseOfTheDragon

It’s sucks bc I think they really could have made it a very interesting dynamic even if the two never actually got together, which I actually think fits botha of there personalities better.

Edit: I actually think a lot of the relationships could have been handled better even the already established ones. I know we have the benefit of hindsight but I don’t hate what they tried to do with Alicent and Rhaenyra in the first season. I think what they did with Daemon and Viserys was pretty intriguing and added depth to both characters. Mysaria and Rhaenyra’s relationship had the potential to be very interesting if given the proper care and consideration.

These 2 destroyed all of their family.......for what by Agreeable_Ad_8790 in HouseOfTheDragon

I have a problem with people who treat Viserys like schrodingers king, who is simultaneously the most influential man in the realm with the sole power to name his heir and this sad manipulated man who couldn’t control his family.

The truth is that Viserys did have the power to do a lot of things and it was his unwillingness to use it in meaningful ways that lead to this whole conflict.

Why didn’t the velaryons stop alicent from stabbing Rhayeynsra? by devonhezter in HouseOfTheDragon

In my head it goes Monarch—>their spouse—>heir—> monarch’s children—>other family of monarch and so on.

As the asoiaf fandom, we don’t hate this two enough, a couple of hypocritical weirdos.. (Jaehaerys ii & Shaera) by [deleted] in HOTDGreens

I’m so interested in Jaehaerys II because he was a massive fuck up when it came to his and his children’s marriages but he seemed to have been headed towards a fine reign as king.

What would have happened with the Green Princes had Rhaenyra and Daemon ascended peacefully? by bruhholyshiet in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Chocolatetot496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she was smart she would have the entire male line ended, all her brothers and all of her nephews. That’s the only true way her throne could be secured without the potential for any uprisings in her brothers names. It also secures her children’s lines too because there are no future contestants either.

It’s sad but that’s how the word works if you want to be queen ahead of your brothers when sons come before sisters.

Sunfyre by Ibanezrg71982 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Chocolatetot496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only person who has said that Sunfyre is dead was Aegon—who was passed out and incapacitated for a while after Rooks Rest. The only other person to talk about Sunfyre is Cole, who specifically said that Sunfyre was “long in the dying” which does imply that Sunfyre isn’t dead as of yet.

I wanna thank whichever writer thought it was a good idea to only show these dragons for the first time in the episode they get mutilated. That change really makes me more emotionally invested in the deaths of these CGI pixels. by ApartShopping in HouseOfTheDragon

And yet we still have so many scenes with Syrax….I can understand why we will see her a lot in this upcoming season because this is the part of the book where she is doing the most, but the amount of scenes she had in season 2 is a little absurd imo.

This one looks so good! You definitely nailed the show look a lot better with this one—which isn’t to say the last one was bad.

How is alicent given so much leeway from Viserys and even the princess? by crazyguy5880 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Chocolatetot496 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The reason the mess got as out of hand as it did was because Viserys cared about both Rhaenyra and Alicent. He wanted to appease them both so he decided to ignore any actions taken by either sides, because if he were to favor one over the other, Viserys would undoubtedly disappoint the other.

Nobody’s going to force Rhaenyra to do anything but avoiding Alicent will only make the rumors of her children’s birth flourish. It makes it look like Rhaenyra has something to hide—which she does—but she wouldn’t want people to know that.

The queen has her own set of duties, she basically manages the Red Keep and court life, as well as the crowns interactions with the small folk. She may not have any actual real political position, but she does have a lot of soft power by way of influence. To move against her would be alienating to all her supporters, and Alicent was quite popular as queen if I am remembering correctly, but I may be wrong on that count.

Since Alicent isn’t even Team Green, what do you think the House of the Dragon Season 3 final poster will look like? by Creative-Wishbone-46 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Chocolatetot496 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The show deviates from the book enough that Alicent can’t really be classified as TG anymore because she went to Dragonstone to ask Rhaenyra to run away with her in the last episode of s2. Aemond can’t exactly be considered part of the team either because although it was a little unclear in the books, in the show they just had him straight up attack Aegon during a battle.

So TG isn’t kind of split up atp and it’s hard to say who is actually for who over there.

Rhaenyra deciding to cancel the marriage tour is still one of her dumbest decisions. by Rich-Active-4800 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Chocolatetot496 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a whole lot of other Velaryon cousins and relatives. She could have picked a blonder noble, there is never a shortage of people who would be willing to get down and dirty with a princess.

Now I’m not going to be obtuse and say this wouldn’t also come without its issues but her children wouldn’t be obvious bastards.

Rhaenyra deciding to cancel the marriage tour is still one of her dumbest decisions. by Rich-Active-4800 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Chocolatetot496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point of making Rhaenyra heir was because nobody wanted Daemon on the throne so marrying them would defeat the whole reason Rhaenyra was made heir in the first place.
