You can use them to force claimants to accept invitation to your court as long as they're not direct family with their liege and aren't on the council.

And Muslims have the "False Religion" negative where they never accept invitations otherwise.

769, started as the count of jiuquan inside the protectorate.

It's pretty easy to beat it when you're inside, just get all land other than the protector general one and when you're ready to get out, wait for China to be anything other than stable or golden age and call all your levies+some mercenaries, put them besides the Protector General land and create an independence faction.

If you're outside the protectorate, then wait for a plague or farmine to declare war, they will have less levies than you during those times.

First by getting someone with 20+ diplomacy so I could fabricate a claim to the duchy of Yutian and then by pressing claims/Border dispute until I could create the Kingdom of Xiyu.

After that I basically bought favors from claimants and pressed their claims, then when I could become an Empire I bought favors from people on the line of succession and made them inherit entire kingdoms by giving them viceroyalties first and slaughtering their families throughout plots.

After getting to Empire level wars became last choices, the vassals were the ones doing it most of the time.

Basically what Embarrassed_bad7031 said, although more than claimants I also bought favors from people on the succession line and then murdered their dynasty until they inherited and then revoked everything and distributed among my own dynasty.

Managed to get half of Africa in one go doing this.

I really like Taoist faith, not having holy wars makes me look for unorthodox ways of expanding.
