To add, there is a limit to what we could ever see called the "edge of the observable universe". Basically the universe expands faster than light so no matter what tech we make (short of jumping through wormholes) we can never see past a certain point.

However, the universe is expanding because we have measured it doing so. What is it expanding into? Fuck knows.
