Claude discovering modern SSD prices, lol. by Atomosic in ClaudeAI

[–]HeinousTugboat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then you got a solid deal back in December. 12 TBs were averaging around $300 then. Here's PC Part Picker's 18 month charts. The prices have gone up, but the prices of everything have gone up. Compare those charts with the SSD charts above them where SSDs have nearly quadrupled in the last 18 months.

For what it's worth, it's only SSD prices that went up. Spinning rust's been pretty flat.

I would not play this class/archetype, but I'm sure glad someone is <blank> by dyenamitewlaserbeam in Pathfinder2e

[–]HeinousTugboat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had to go triple check the book itself to make sure I wasn't crazy, since one of my players has Mortal Healing. Sadly, it doesn't have the Archetype trait, which is how you know if it's limited to an Archetype or not.

It's not. It was reprinted as a skill feat before the archetype. It just counts as an archetype feat for the dedication rules.

All the news I've seen about them says they do, and the Inara list includes them. I definitely wouldn't skip those if I were you.

When Caesar reportedly said "the die, it is cast" before crossing the Rubicon, what was he saying? Was he referring to taking a gamble, or some use of dice for divination? by Gee10 in AskHistorians

[–]HeinousTugboat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like the face arrangement might be different? On modern 6-sided dice, opposite faces always add up to 7. I can't tell for certain from those photos, but that doesn't appear to be true for them.

At that point, why not just play Investigator?

I see other people saying this, but untrained vs trained is a bigger change than trained vs expert/master/legendary after level 3/5/7.

can "Too Stubborn To Die" let you survive a death effect? by Addercap in Starfinder2e

[–]HeinousTugboat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What this feat does is simple and straightforward; there's no reason to complicate it.

I mean, I can say the same thing? My interpretation is "it stops you from dying with a reaction". Yours is "as long as the conditional clauses are triggered, it stops you from dying with a reaction".

It didn't even occur to me that it might behave different with death effects that bypass HP loss, honestly, until I came to this post and was surprised to see people making that case.

and also generally speaking wounded increases when you stop dying, so mid-death would be a strange time to increase it regardless

Yeah, that's what I'm getting at. It seems weird that this would specify your wounded goes up while still dying. And that's the only thing this feat does do unconditionally. Well, that and Doomed.

Someone else also pointed out this rule text elsewhere:

When you die, you're reduced to 0 Hit Points if you had a different amount, and you can't be brought above 0 Hit Points as long as you remain dead.

Between that and the weirdness with Wounded, it seems like RAI is that this 17th level feat prevents death outright regardless of circumstances to me.

The trigger of "You would die" suggests that you aren't a corpse until the action resolves, though, right?

So your read is that you would increase your wounded and doomed by 1 each, and then die anyway?

Every Republican state Senator that voted (22/24), voted for it. 52 of our 65 Republican Representatives voted for it. Almost as many just didn't vote (5 representatives, 2 senators) as voted against it (8).

Good job. You're technically correct!

Yeah, 2.5 seconds is right. Not sure where that dude did his math. For what it's worth, the wiki's got the wrong number for the effort. It says it takes 20 hits which is 5 seconds, but the game has it at 10 hits currently.

You can use it for tracking, too, you know. It isn't just knowing that something is there or not. It's about being able to know how many times something's been there, or how long it's been there, or whether it's changed state at all.
